Re: Dealer Service costs and General Information.

I am looking to book my rx8 in for a service next month. Looking at service/year 9. Thinking of supplying the spark plugs, oil, oil filter and air filter myself. Originally was hoping to check it into Essex rotary, but it would be far more convenient to take it to my local mazda dealership in Cambridge. On the other hand if i was to take it to an independent garage, would this be considered as a bad move? Is it advisable to stick to a rotary specialist/Mazda?

Yeah I think this would be a wise move to go to Essex rotary. I'm just awaiting a quote from them.

My late 2006 model is due its 7 year service, and I've now discovered that it looks like the 6yr one wasn't done by the prev owner - prob cos it's only done 18k (thinks I).
Now I've been quoted over £700 to catch up with the 6 yr service (Hughes in Slough, Berks)
I'd like to get the work done - even tho the FSH will never be quite F - but surely there must be somewhere I can get it cheaper than that????

Or since the FSH will never be F - should I pick and choose the mileage critical items from it (in which case which bits are they?)

Supply your own oil, spark plugs and whatever else (and use your members' discounts with the traders in the traders section too - you can source everything for much cheaper than Mazda charge) and the price will plummet.

Talking about spark plugs and bringing the cost of the service down - add your name to the group buy list here http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 12#p767212

Now that my RX8 is running again.. It needs a new service/MOT by the end of this week. I was wondering if people had any experience of where to best go in Hampshire? I need to do the Year 8 service but had changed the oil and oil filter in May (I'm guessing they will want to charge me for this anyway?)

I am coming up to my 3yr service, 12000 miles and was quoted £526. I had a little sit down after that.
This is by the Donald's group. Will email Essex rotary and see what that will be. Then see what is involved and maybe do it myself, although my wife thinks it'll take me years like all my other DIY projects :)

Get your own plugs, oil, filters etc from the club's traders for the dealer to use and see the price plummet. Go to Essex Rotary though.

Lol it was either that or 'fresh linen' or some other scent that they told me smells 'hospital-ish'.
I asked if they had a sample...techie came out, sprayed the air, and no doubt coconut was lush.

But the first few days, it was quite strong for me...but now it's subtle :-)

I have had my rx8 sent to vauxhall dealer by insurance company to rebuild rear driver wheel section after accident sent it out off line. They are quoting £2600 and ins co are writing off as they value 53 plate at 1.5k though I had rebuild for 2.4K last September can anyone recommend a good place to take for repairs if I claim car back and pay myself

Garages always seem to quote top prices for insurance jobs. I'm, sure someone will have a recommendation for where you can take it to be fixed better and for less.

just posted on fb for some local recommendations (glasgow). I knew it would be expensive with the spark plug replacement, but £580 seems excessive to me
