Re: Weight Saving
So, I happen to have a stock exhaust manifold kicking about. No O2 sensor or anything, it's coming up as 6.6kg.Elektix wrote: These opening figures are from the yanks to get us going. I have converted them to KG.

Stock Exhaust Manifold (with O2 Sensor) - 8kg
And a Toyo manifold is coming up as 4.86kg.

Re: Weight Saving
Holy thread revival!! Quick q, On a standard daily 231, how much weight needs to be lost, before the ever reliable butt Dyno notices a difference?

Re: Weight Saving
Not a lot for a butt Dyno...
I can feel the difference between when I've just driven out of the petrol station with a full tank after arriving with an empty one but I imagine the point at which it makes an actual different is probably greater

Re: Weight Saving
That is sensitive lol....it’s more out of curiosity as to what needs to come off or be replaced to make it worth doing. My own 8 is not a tracker, so like to keep the car looking like a 8 usually does.

Re: Weight Saving
Has to be really empty
But a car full of passengers Vs with none only feels a bit different and that could be 200kg difference but then again you don't do that at track speeds

Re: Weight Saving
Wow , I’d never have thought a weight adjustment would make much difference on a dyno , I do however stand to be mcorrected .....Not sure what a butt dyno is but I’m all ears ....

Re: Weight Saving
On a proper dyno then no, but your backside when driving, aka butt dyno, do you feel an acceleration or handling difference , with moderately less weight, discounting extra passengers or fuel levels.

Re: Weight Saving
Understood ...... my car felt quicker after I had stripped the interior and put coilovers on it , lap times didn’t say the same ........ must have been the increased noiseScartlead wrote:On a proper dyno then no, but your backside when driving, aka butt dyno, do you feel an acceleration or handling difference , with moderately less weight, discounting extra passengers or fuel levels.

Re: Weight Saving
Thanks, yeah its only a generalised query, as there are so many variables of course and a lot of the mods I've bought will be lighter than stock, exhaust etc anyway .......So there will be some weight benefit, its a question of how much more you do to make it worthwhile or not

I could probably lose a few kg of crap out of the boot I carry around for no reason...
Not to mention the kgs I could lose myself

Re: Weight Saving
I've removed inner skin of bonnet.
Anyone considered cutting the inside of the doors out while retaining impact bars?
Same for other body panels?
I'm in the process of removing wiring
