Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So ,this weekend i am going to fit a new steering rack, rod ends and the group buy oil cooler lines to kuro 2.
This time the cooler lines should be much easier without any air con and steering rack in the way, quite looking forward to it actually.

Just make sure that when you put everything else back in Rob nothing fouls or you'll be irritated to no end.
This week is purchasing a new battery for me. I did contact my local motor DIY shop about a battery... Sadly they cant supply me with a Varta and never got back to me with the pricing on a Bosch S4. So I'm thinking I will just have to swallow the £14 postage fee on Tayna. Absolutely ridiculous seeing as I don't live in the highlands! (Ron and Craig would be able to confirm this!)

last time i had a bit of a scare with the oil level when refilling after cooler lines, this time i shall check level before i start and measure everything that comes out and put the same ammount of new oil back in,i shall probably give it a few spins on the starter before firing it up,oh the joys of having a manual oil pressure gauge.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Had to drive into the office for something and it turns out black cars get hot even when parked in the shade.

I won't repeat the words I yelled when the bare backs of my legs (I'm wearing shorts, don't get too excited Nigel) contacted the black leather seat (and the nice gel packs inside that retain the heat...)
Thank Christ my air con works well! I do wish the seats were vented on RX8's...
Don't forget your suncream everyone, it's a proper scorcher out there.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My first RX8 had black seats and no aircon which meant I left the rear windows open and had a sunshield over the windscreen otherwise it would be too hot to enter if it had been in the sun for a prolonged period of time.
My Kuro has white seats and aircon was regassed a couple of years back so no issues now

I’m so glad I didn’t ditch my air con. It would have been unbearable on days like this.

Very surprised at how good it is considering it was done off the car and just with the fuel flap as a match

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Spent some time today fitting my newly acquired racing beat header, didn't start on it until late afternoon, nearly there now, just need to hook up the hard pipe to the header and then the air pump, it's a tight old fit in there, not sure as yet how I'm going to get the hard pipe secured to the header, I have one bolt in but the other is going to need me to get inventive. No major issues other than a captive nut breaking loose.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Finished installation of the racing beat manifold, the hard pipe connection was a mare, along with moving the engine mount bracket in and out of the wheel arch. Car has a nice rasp to it now when reving.

Tried to give it its first start in a few months. Foot to the floor turned key for a few seconds. Key off.. Key to ignition on. Nothing happens.. Oh boy.
Battery light and check engine light stay illuminated. Starter is turning but engine doesn't sound like it's going anywhere?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
You need to check that CEL as it should tell you why it's not firing.
Mine did this after not being used for a few months and it was the ESS failing the pre-flight test.
Cleared the CEL and it fired up.
