Having seen admired this car a few times in her heydays, it's a great shame that this was to be her end.

10 years ago I would have put money on this example being one of the few left at the end... :(
A lot can change in 10 years and I am pretty sure that Tony would also have broken the car had I not purchased it.
The Racing Brake 4 pot Calipers 2 piece discs, TEIN Mono Sports coil overs currently live on fitted to RR54 and I still have the front splitter rear diffuser & grill, RB Full REV 8 exhaust, a newly reconditioned Pettit supercharger kit sitting in the garage. Plus the balanced street ported engine, RB Braided oil cooler lines, RB lightened flywheel, Exedy Stg 1 clutch so 2021 should be a fun year after a busy winter under my new car port which arrives next week.
Are you going to use the rear diffuser chris?

So after splurging some money on the rex I collected my pulleys and sump from Ryan rotary performance today, fitted the pulleys (although tensioner is still awaiting bearing) managed to get the alternator pulley off without the use of an ugga dugga, ground 2 flats on the pulley, gripped it with mole grips and hit socket a few times with a hammer, whilst in there I notice the current tensioner bearing, although not rough, it is on its downwards slope, as is the water pump bearing, its not leaking but there is a bit of play and you can actual spin the pulley and momentum keeps it spinning a little, a sure sign of wear, as a good bearing actually has a resistance to spinning. So orders a new water pump from ecp

Not 100% turned out how I would have liked but finished modifying this front bumper to put onto my RX-8 the next time weather permits.

So purpley. One of the things I've been recommended since my rebuild is purple coolant. No idea what it does but I instantly thought of your car when it was mentioned!

Yes the uprated oil pressure regulator is going in once the sump is out. Was discussing it with Carl this morning. Wouldn't mind a thermal pellet upgrade, but I'm not that brave,

Put my track wheels and 1144 pads back on yesterday ready for Snetterton on Wednesday. I found the rear calipers were seized and spent a while trying to remove them, at one point even trying a club hammer to (gently) knock them free.

Then remembered I'd left the handbrake on! #-o

Thought I was past those simple errors. More fool me!

Are you just fitting the 1144 Pads for track and then running standard pads the rest of the time? I wouldn’t recommend this as the disc surface becomes “conditioned” during the bedding in process of the new pads. Swapping already bedded in, conditioned, pads for other compound bedded in pads may not provide you with optimal braking performance.

No doubt you had not experienced any issues or you wouldn’t be do this but thought I would mention it anyway.

Started fitting the 20mm spacers, had to cut 10mm ish off the studs, done one side other tomorrow probably, liking how they fill the arch now.

Thanks Chris. I wouldn't normally swap pads frequently. Normally the 1144s would stay on the car, but at Xmas I had a premonition that for some reason there might be a 7 month wait between track events. So I stuck a set of cheaper pads on to save using up the 1144s on trips 'to buy essentials officer'. Fresh 1144s went on the front (the second set of the ones you kindly supplied) and I'm reusing the rears. They'll stay on the car until they wear out which at this rate won't be long. I'm going to need more of them very soon.... hint hint :unibrow:

This makes me tempted to pull the spacers off my civic and see if they fit.

Both are 5x114.3 but I think hub hole has to be wider for the RX8.

When torqueing up the spacers I tightened them to what seems more than the wheel torque but no click, it clicks tightening the wheel nuts?

What type of studs are in the spacers. Same design as the wheel studs with a rear flange or just screwed in from the front face if the latter then the torque is less.

The original Workshop Manual spec for the wheel nuts was 88-118 Nm but this was revised as part of Service Bulletin No: 02-002/04 to 147 Nm, for the 18" alloys, along with ensuring that there's no grease on the faces of the wheel or hub.

Think when I brought a set (12 years ago) they were around £50 maybe more. On a plus side, today I purchased both drive belts and 5 litres of fl22 for £70 from mazda (I believe the fl22 alone can be around £40)

As with all car manufacturers, the retail parts prices are reviewed (every month for Mazda) based on stock levels and perceived demand.

Some of the larger dealer chains also buy-in products like mats from aftermarket sources, complete with Mazda branding, and sell for whatever they like.
