Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I got mine polished up by RRP when I did a recent rebuild ( one of the nice additional services they offered ), so it looks quite nice and shiny at the mo. Am determined to give it a good polish in a few months time myself with something like UDS to keep it looking just as good.
A whole days clean with claying and polish used to take me around 8 hours and don't seem to get the time these days. But I will endeavour to do it this time!

I find it far easier to pay someone to clean my car instead
The car looks like it's been in a World Rally, but can stay like that until the Annual Meet, when I will get the car cleaned

Ahah such a luxurious life style Nige. I wouldn't trust anyone but a professional to go near my car and the paint works not even that great to begin with! But I definitely don't want it getting worse! :c

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I went to see Carl at RRP yesterday to have my ECU mapped again. He last did it about 18 months ago I think, but I'd made a few mods since then so thought it might be worth a retune.
And it was! I hadn't realised just how much performance had dropped since I'd changed back to the stock airbox and fitted the S1 gearbox because it had happened over a long period with multiple mods. Carl worked his magic and it feels like lightning again. It reinforced my view that tuning is too often overlooked as an affordable solution to minor gripes. Plus Carl's always a joy to hang out and chat with.
This will hopefully improve my low mpg issue once I do some cruising runs. But I was having too much fun with the renewed power yesterday to take it easy.
Then I came home and took off the rear 1144s. They'd thankfully survived better than the fronts and will go back on in spring. For now I chucked standard Brembos on the rear as well. Ended up working on the car in the dark for a second day in a row. But I didn't mind because the remap had cheered me up

Spent yesterday and today turning some grey scuffed aero skirts into not too shabby sunlight silver aero skirts, used bumper filler and rattle cans, they may need a little denibbing and another coat of clear, but in the words of shrek, that'll do donkey

Thank you, but I've not had any success posting pics to the forum, I only use my mobile and I'm not that tech savvy, now physical, hands on stuff I can do.

I have loads of spare time, living the life after being made redundant just before Xmas , but I wouldn't want to takle a whole car, couldn't fit it in the house for a start.

The bonnet, bumpers and doors can be unbolted so that just leaves the pillars, roof and rear wings to do. Next excuse.

Chris, that would take a lot of rattle cans and patience, rattle cans can be bought, however patience cannot.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The guy who rents the steading at my house paints cars... But by god does it take a longggggg time. He's told me quite often about how the primers reacted badly when it shouldn't really do that and he's had to go over it again. Usually ends up with a really nice result considering the amount of dust in the place etc.

After these are fitted, I have a set of the mud flaps/spats to sort out and spray, at this rate I'll be able to add body shop to my cv

Just put a couple of nasty scratches down the ns front wing. Grabbing a funnel off the garage shelf for an oil top up and knocked off a full can of Plusgas onto the car.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Fitted my DIY aluminium under tray and did an oil change whilst under the car, had to contend with a sheared bolt that held the old under tray at the back, out came the drill and 10 minutes later I managed to get the bolt out (battery is pretty much useless on this drill) replaced with stainless steel button heads, in fact any bolts I find now (that used to be 10mm af) are being replaced with these as I got about 50 from screwfix for a few £, so it would be rude not to.

Just watched a you tube channel called jamie_fyd he's done a refreshing review on the rx8, sounds like he likes the car.
