This is a secret night time drive of a pre-production Freelander, before the car was released to the public :ninja:

That's very cool Pete, wish my dad could have seen that.

We had one of the first batch of Freelanders, and many fun holidays conquering anything the alps would throw at it. IMO it was the only all-terrain vehicle in its class that was truly off-road capable. Ours sadly had the dreaded 1.8 Rover K Series engine though, which had to be rebuilt twice.

At the same time my parents also had an early MGF also with the K Series engine (which my mum has just begrudgingly decided to scrap after slowly losing a battle of 20 years of various engine issues). At 100k miles that was on it's third engine!

Such a shame as everything else about those cars, to me at least, was perfect and defined so much of my childhood.

So I always :roll: at the RENESIS' poor reputation for reliability... it's all relative and there are much worse out there!

(Sorry for the off-topic ;) )

The challenge is to create an edge that can be glued back together without the joint showing.

There are plenty of used ones around to practice on.
A decent thin cutting disc I found to be best, went through a couple before I got the knack.

I started a thread about opening the lights a while back, will update it over lunch with the end results.

I know this sort of thing is marmite, but after trying films and fly-eye paper decided a light tint was in order as its the look I like, with upgraded bulbs there is sufficient light coming through.

Tint Applied:

Laquered, bit of orange peel:

Sanded and rubbing compound with some elbow grease:

Just enough of a tint for me:

Hoping the weather holds to get them on the car after making some upgraded foam/rubber seals..

Swapped out APV motor, had constant cel error code 2008, was a bit of a pain to swap, but now have intermittent cel 2008, so I have an improvement but not as good as I would of wished for, apv itself turned without issue and magnet was at the 1 o'clock position, so think there may be a damaged pin or something or the magnet is going weak.

Gave it a wash and test fitted my oil cooler grills.
I've already covered the oil coolers with mesh but didn't like that they didn't match. So cut up an old center grill. Not bad for a first attempt.

This Is Only A Mock Up Of the Defuser Fitting......So Made the Mounting brackets today and did a trial Run Of the Rear Defuser still a long way to go but I think there going to be enough rear down force on the lower wings the defuser is not just for show and when completed will be finished of in a Carbon effect hydro Dip....

Also went with the double staggered wing as there is enough air flow for this modding the rear bumper was 4 X 3/4 slots need to be cut but hardly noticeable....!

Thank for taking the time to Look....!

[url=http://s32.photobucket.com/user/Tonyspi ... .jpeg.html

As you can see the Defuser is mostly under the rear bumper & not protruding or extending the length of the body ...Also there no need to have it under the exhausts as they have there own air scoops

[url=http://s32.photobucket.com/user/Tonyspi ... .jpeg.html

mock up brackets made but some adjustments to be done, all the aluminium to be coated black nuts and bolts also need to be done in Orange .... this is only a Mock up the finished effect will look a little different .

They look really good. I thought it looked like the centre grille before I read the text. I wonder if anyone else has done it that way.

Removed all the seagull crap from the roof, bonnet, boot, windows and both sides of the car. Never ever park your car overnight on Aberystwyth seafront. Great night though so it was worth it :-)

After 6 months in storage i decided it was due a deep clean ready for some summer use.

Full snow foam x 2, Meguires compound, Megs clear coat polish and finally a coat of carnauba wax. Silicone all black plastics and clean glass inside and out.

Sweating my nuts off for 4 hrs.

Thanks, I did try the covex style film but just couldn't get it to sit right...

They do look factory, which is what I was after, less chance of being stopped if it looks manufacturer, but also enough red is visible, we will see.
