Took Rexi for a quick drive to the pet shop via a dual carriage as she hasn’t been redlined in a day or so, turns out if you have a nearly empty tank and an empty boot the rear end gets a bit lively!

On a dual carriageway?! If you’re tyres are good there should be no drama on a dry road!

Dual carriage way driving was flawless, it was getting and off of it that proved to be ‘interesting’

As above, though, in the dry with good tyres it should be fine. What rubber are you running?

Over the last few days I've replaced the battery with one that actually fits (and works, more importantly), changed the oil, cleaned the air filter and MAF sensor, checked the coils (all good after 5 years and 40k miles, nice one Clive :)) and replaced the three vacuum solenoids behind the engine because the SSV one was playing up. That's fixed things beautifully, it reminded me on the test drive just how quick the car is after Carl Hayward's porting a couple of years back, but now I've discovered a new fault code - P2008, the APV motor open circuit. Now it's pulling amazingly through the primaries and secondaries, but the tertiaries might not be opening. Balls!

Gave the connector a wiggle this morning and I'll run the car down to the tip later to see if that's fixed it, if not then it's spanner time again. I've got to replace the brake fluid and spark plugs before Snetterton on Tuesday anyway, so I'll have to jack the car up again, but it's one more job I wasn't expecting to have to do.
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; cruise control; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Done: Hayward Rotary rebuild and stage 2 port; Racing Beat ARBs, adjustable front droplinks, ram air intake and lightened flywheel; Exedy stage 1 clutch; Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs; Koyo radiator; heated front screen; EBC redstuff pads all round

Actually yesterday, snubbed it to take the M3 to Car Limits which proved to be an incredible day far more educational and fun than a track day and for the instruction much better value.
:whathesaid: except I was in the GT86

For a brief moment I thought "That's a bit extreme. Surely just fix the APV motor."

Ha! Not quite that bad just yet, I only need to get rid of the manky old oil and filter. Hoping the wiggle has fixed the issue, if not I may need to replace the motor, which would be a pain. We shall see :)

Well that didn't work, so now I'll be removing, cleaning and refitting the connector when I bleed the brakes next Monday. That should be a fun job. In other news, my driver's side sill will be an MOT failure come September, so I need to sort that out. Time to take the wife out for a nice meal and gain approval for a chunky spend...

Not so much to..., but maybe for... the RX8:-
Been playing around with that quote - which I rather liked - from the breakdown person about RX8s being "Powered by voodoo and magic triangles".
(Sorry, I've forgotten who publicised it here, please tell me who you are...)
I'm no graphic artist (tho my daughter is) but is there any interest or enthusiasm for something along similar lines to this:- ?
(Could be made up into a window sticker, eg)
Feel free to suggest alternatives (artwork please!) and say if it's a bit naff, too fussy, or a heap of crap (but I will go off in a huff in the latter case :( )

I'm glad it tickled you. :thumleft:

Unfortunately that was the last time the car was running. Hopefully I get it back soon and can have some more funtimes giving it a brap again.
