Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Window was taking ages to retract, got progressively worse till I had to have the engine on for it to close, assumed it was a bad connection but got a solid 13v when engine was on.
Turned out it was just the cables had dried out, added some cycle lube, takes seconds now and works with the engine off just fine.

This is typical of the sort of issues people are likely to come across as our cars get older.

today and yesterday, got the chance to have two really long spirited drives which refreshed my memory as to what a fantastic car the RX8 really is.

Back from a few days in Cornwall visiting friends and hooning about. 1,000 miles in less than a week, lots of A and B road blasting. Makes me appreciate what a great car the RX8 really is.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Today I f***Ed up....
Rear light had usual fish bowl, car had stood for two years so it had algi line. Cleaned best could with hot soapy water.
Read somewhere to rinse in isopropyl alcohol as it had dried with watermarks to get rid of them, quick swill and bad reaction.....
Oh well. Replacement on the way..... Remind me not to trust everything I read xD
Was too wet out to be tinkering undercar

Bad luck! I'm surprised IPA did that to it, tbh.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I've done some digging.
The headlamps are almost certainly Polycarbonate. IPA will not affect polycarbonate at all.
The tail lamps are almost certainly acrylic (perspex). Acrylic is attacked by IPA. It causes stress cracks and crazing of the surface. You may get away with weak concentrations of IPA, but 100% neat IPA will quickly damage the surface.

Not today but just found this picture again - can barely believe I managed to squeeze in there.
Drift lock mods ftw.
Did manage to smear some Hammerite onto my sump today while I have easy access though.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Fitted the PZ wheels I've just purchased and had refurbished in their original colour, to my Copper Red Nemesis. Please excuse the dirt on the rest of the car, I've not gotten around to washing it this week just yet. I'll get better photos at the weekend. Hoping the PZ suspension will lower it a little too as it's on the original springs presently.

The PZ wheels suit it really well.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Cheers guys, I was considering silver as I'm quite a fan of the original wheels, however I thought I'd give the original darker PZ colour a go first. I have to say I wasn't sure how they'd look on a copper red before buying them, but after having gotten them refurbished they look sweet in my opinion.
