I imagine it is most popular with people such as ourselves who own cars in the highest tax band :)

But yes, it is a fairly common way to deal with taxing cars for shorter periods at a time without having to wait for refund cheques from DVLA.

I knew the engine in the car was tired when I bought it and tonight I gave it a bit too much right foot and blew the engine.
Apparently the flames out the back were blue and lasted for ages, well I suppose they would when there is no compression to burn the fuel.

@Bob & @ Malcolm. Rebuild was in my plans anyway and Tony was open about the engine potentially needing one. The darn thing just decided itself to demand a rebuild, aided by my right foot!

On a plus note ordered a re-amemyia carbon gear knob from Japan. Finally an actual genuine aftermarket jdm part I can fit!

Edit, that’s the one

Did you order direct from Japan or buy from Essex Rotary?

Ordered direct Dave from rhd. Wasn't the ball shaped one that Aston sells. Plus it's alot cheaper doing it this way. I'd be more wary of electronics, but its a gear knob so should be ok.

I'd be interested to hear if you get away without VAT and import duty on top of both the purchase price and shipping costs.
It seems to be a bit of a lottery with amounts charged being anything from zero (it just arrives) to a massive ransom demand from Royal Mail/Parcelfarce.

Swapped the Dumbo ears over for smaller ones, not only were the Dumbos MASSIVE, they both rattled rather annoyingly.

Looking forward to the increase in speed the improved aerodynamics will bring

Decided over the weekend to pull the engine out and rebuild it myself as I have good set of irons, housings and rotors just sitting in the garage.
Car is being delivered back to me this afternoon.

According to Pettits blurb unless actually going racing and / or using the stage 2 higher power pulleys then the answer is no, aside from an uprated oil pressure valve and thermal pellet that is.

EDITED: And thanks to Dave for also pointing out that Goopys are recommend by those in the know. They were on my list anyway.
