Asked the wife to drive the car

Coming up for 5 years ownership and she's never driven it.

Her observations: "I like the pedal position and the view down the bonnet....and it steered nicely, but it's noisier than mine"

Wheels checked and no kerbing [-o< :thumleft:
My missus isn't insured for mine thankfully..... :)

Calculated fuel economy 17.3 mpg.

As I rarely get her flowers, she'd immediately think I'd done something wrong if I get her some - female reverse logic in full effect....but keeps running costs down :P

Thankfully the wife doesn't need to change the seat position as she's on the tall side....but she's forever mounting kerbs with back wheels when turning in car parks etc in the Mazda 6 family wagon - just doesn't understand that the back wheels take a tighter line #-o ...so that was the biggest worry.
....and all in the name of not wanting to leave the 8 in a desolate car park whilst training. :thumleft:

Having her on the insurance brings the cost down a little, somehow  ;)

Measured my approximate ride height the other day... To discover the front is sitting at around 360mm and the rear is sitting at 350mm~... Not sure if I want to take the back up the 10mm or take the front down the 5-10mm (measured on the least level ground because... flat surfaces don't exist where I live). Decisions... The extra clearance would be nice due to where I live but... At the same time.. the current rear fitment looks so good. I can't imagine the extra 10mm having any massive effect on how the car performs though?

As someone who's gone up rather than down recently (not really sure how I could have gone any lower frankly) can confirm higher ride height makes life MUCH more relaxing than lower. Nothing quite like the puckering when you come to a lump and REALLY don't want to hit anything important.

What's the reason for the difference? That'd be interesting to find out.

I have no idea to be honest. The previous owners work... Which with the camber settings etc Im not surprised at all. Ahah oh yeah my first few weeks of owning the car were horrendous! My fuel tanks got a few bashes and the underside has a few scrapes! But with the OEM sized tyres on I feel like I have enough ground clearance for most things. The front doesn't look particularly bad at the height its at. But the back fitment just looks that little bit... nicer ya know? The car already feels as low as it can go anyway at the back. I think 350mm ride heights low enough personally. Just figured that things should really be even... And not uh... higher at the front than the back?

Though I am very strongly considering stiffer suspension at some point.. Tein Street Basis Z's feel a bit soft to me.

Checked oil, coolant and brake fluids. (topped up where necessary)

Took off all 4 wheels and inspected break pads, discs, shocks and and any corrosion around wheel joints. (All looked in order.)

Replaced both doors as my old ones had dents and scrapes from cars hitting them. They look so much better now.

Washed car and cleaned the inside ready for japfest on Saturday.

Besides the fact my rear rotor is on the low compression side of the scale and will need a rebuild soon I am happy over the general condition of my car.

Let me see if I understood that correctly.

The blackbox device that the insurance company sent would normal plug into the cigarette lighter socket, expecting it to be powered at all times, which ours isn't.
well wildly accepted all the cars must have constant power to socket hence name power plug however thing getting
complicated sometimes. ex some car tail brake lights works independent of key but some doesn't or fort beams or....
You've broken into the plug on the device to hard wire into the fusebox, to provide a permanent live.

In doing so you've discovered "a timer circuit" which detects if both the negative contacts on the plug are in electrical contact, which could be spoofed by just joining them together?
correct there two different wire colour for negative which makes me confused at first why ???
but when I connect them I see the dongle powered up.
If this is correct, then it doesn't make sense to me:
- If the box requires permanent live then that is the indication that it's plugged in.
- If it just needs the negatives to be connected together then it doesn't need to be powered all the time.
- Many car cigarette sockets don't have a continuous earth ring connection inside, so a plug may only make electrical contact on one side or other anyway.
The unit have internal chargeable battery, some Liti ion crap prese over all design is simple and working for most of times. internal battery and probably some micro controller timer and G sensors + GPS.
I said G sensor cause they are emphasise a lot about horizontally setting up
will post few pics soon

Snap! Well, probably not as 'proper' as your clean but it's certainly a lot better than it was before. Washed off most of Blyton and the A1M, plus the evidence of many birds using it for target practice. (Also I think some of the paint from one of the rims - just as well this set are getting a refurb soon!)

This stuff is very effective for stone chip rash, much easier to apply and better results than touch-up paints

Discovered my passenger side exhaust tip was... not at a straight angle at all! Itll go back up but insists on not staying there for long! Maybe this is the rattling I get sometimes from the rear.

MAF cleaners also arrived so going to give the MAF a clean to see if the returning mid range power loss issue is MAF related.
