Also rang rotary revs yesterday to book in for service, minimap and asked about rust proofing. They don't do rustproofing anymore. Sounds like rx8s are a fly in their ear now compared to their Mustangs
I asked RR about the rust proofing too about 18 months ago and they said the reason they no longer offer is due to the fact customers were complaining that their cars (not just the tangs) were getting covered in the dust and the residue from the cleaning and spraying of the undercoat.
Since they dont have a seperate area for doing this i kind of see their point in stopping the service.
You cant be handing back mclarens etc a dusty oily mess after having work done
Garages are having similar issues with the dry ice vapour blasting that's taken off in the past year or so, the dirt atomises and goes everywhere.
Back to the drawing board on the supercharger install as the original place I'd planned to mount it (where the alternator is) didn't go to plan as the intake manifold gets in the way (I think this wouldn't be an issue on the 192 as it's the 231 aux ports that are close the supercharger inlet)
Thought mounting it where the coils are may just work if I move the ABS unit slightly but then there's the oil filler in the way of the intake

It is/was on their website very recently but they've taken half of the website offline. Just feels to me like they'd be happy to shut the rotary arm completely rather than offer the services they have done in the past but with no more r&d.

This is another reason why people often choose to use the 4-port, rather than 6-port, engine for the basis of an FI upgrade...

For the Pettit SC install the mount on the side of the ABS unit is removed. If you remove the engine lifting eye you will be able to move the SC further across.

Went for a quick 40 miles spin yesterday as I haven't driven it in weeks, felt really nice. Also did my first fillup (been topping up mostly) in a couple of months, that didn't feel so nice.
Found that the central lock in my driver side door has gone belly up, doesn't open or close using the fob, I hear the click in it but the little lock thingy doesn't move, works fine on the passenger side. Guess any decent car electrician could take a look at it, don't need an RX8 specialist for that?

is that unit even big enough to flow needed air ? what spec is it / your power aim ?
also note, centrifugal compressors (be it on super or turbo charger) don't like to suck, they love to blow!.. any restriction on the intake is immensely amplified and penalized on the pressure side making the charge much hotter or weaker (simply having much less grams/s flow). make sure you orient the SC so that it can have a very unrestricted cold air feed.
The Honda Civic it originally came off made 500bhp (at 16psi I believe) so I'm hoping it will still be capable of around 400hp with the higher airflow requirements of the rotary engine.
This is the compressor map for the supercharger
Wow. What a discovery that map looks very nice for the renny you roughly need g/s=hp ie 400ish g/s=400ish hp. At pr of 1.9-2.1 (depending how good your IC will be) just on the right side of best efficiency... I have been searching for such, and its really compact! And with internal drive ratio of 7.5 you only need to up the speed from the crank by 20-30%
Have you considered moving the alternator to the AC unit position , move the AC above it and you have all the area above the engine after you remove the alternator and AC mounts
Though 400, stock engine or taller apex seals?

I hadn't considered relocating the aircon, I'll have a look to see if it's feasible without having to replace the AC lines.
For the time being I'm going to use the OEM RX8 apex seals and aim for 300bhp and then further down the line go for deeper cut rotors and rx7 seals.

If that’s Mexico then I am not going there on holiday as it looks just like England.

Not my car but Lemons (Stuart) which had a failed steering rack.
Started the job just after 10am we soon realised that we were heading for a non finish when it became apparent the column UJ was scrap. It became more scrap once I had attacked it to remove it!
Stu thought Dave2112 had a UJ so I called him and not only did he have a UJ but also another rack which as he has no RX8 now was surplus. Dave said he would bring them over which was great as going to get them would have meant more than an hour lost working on the car.
Refitting the UJ was as time consuming as removing the old one due to rusted splines and limited access but perseverance and ingenuity won the battle.
Power steering now restored and some calibration required to cure the light one way, heavier the other issue but otherwise the jobs done.
Finished around 19:30 this evening.

Snowdon is gorgeous, great roads too - I'd be up for a tour as I've only ever been there in my old micra
We have an annual meet with about 15 to 20 rx8s and a idiot in a Mercedes slk touring through in convoy. Next one is May, where we will be doing Snowdon area and Angelsey
Ignore the google maps link though, I did not realise it fastest route planned again after I had adjusted the route the next time you click it. Its on my to do list....
