Never been caught myself

I always know where they are going to be on my work route. On roads I don't know, I stick to the limit, that way I don't get caught.

Started car, reversed off drive, went to apply forward momentum in 1st gear, stalled. Oh, that was 3rd gear. WAKE UP!

Oh sh!t, has it flooded while I'm stuck in the middle of the road?

Turn everything off, ignition back on, try to start... Ohhhh thank fook for that - caught fire quite quickly, sounded a bit chuggy for about 5 seconds, cleared through. Not the start to the week I'd have wanted.

Managed to fix something. Yay :yeah:

Windscreen washers on the driver side have always been poor - dribbly and impossible to direct.

Took the nozzle out, making sure I pulled through the rubber hose enough so it didn't disappear into the abyss and stuck a weight plate on it!

Soaked the nozzle in some Cillit Bang for a while, refit and bingo - power and direction

it's the little things.......

It shouldn't flood in that scenario.

Flooding occurs after the engine is started, switched off after only a few minutes and then the car is left to go cold again. Flooding actually happens on the next (attempted) restart.

So, had you not restarted straight away, perhaps thinking that it might flood the engine, rolled back to the curb and tried to restart later, then she may well have flooded.

"Bang, and your nozzle squirts" might not be the new tag line on the Cillit Bang adverts, although we can hope.

I normally jam a screwdriver up the end of the hose, so it doesn't get lost, and drop the nozzle in industrial strength limescale remover.
Hadn't thought to try Cillit Bang.

Was searching for Viakal or similar at home and was just about to use vinegar when I stumbled across some of Barry Scotts finest!

Next job: remove door card and gubbins to get to the wing mirror bolts. One must be loose as there's an annoying rattle from them unless I squirt WD40 behind the plastic cowl on the outside.

Wing mirror rattle is often the plastic covers on the back (the painted bit). The way I fixed it was to remove the covers - you don't need to remove the mirror from the car to do this - and then put a little bit of foam between the plastic cover and the mirror itself.

Went away absolutely fine :)

Ahhhhh, thanks for explaining that. I did react quickly to get started again, it had been run for about 45 seconds before moving and I feared the worst, seeing as it wasn't really warm in the slightest. First time I've stalled the R3, and first time it's been turned off without any of the variable redlines extinguished.

Yep did that to help the 'closing the door' tinnyness. But this jiffle comes on worn out roads mainly rather than bumps and is internal. Took me forever to find it and squirting WD40 behind the black plastic triangular bit makes it go away but only temporarily. May need a rubber washer, who knows
will take it apart and have a look. if it's all tight, then I dunno :-k

Hmm... There is a little spring inside which allows the mirror to be folded in, so that might need a spacer or summink...

That said, tightening the little 8mm bolts on the back side will probably help too!

I also found that one of my rattles was due to a load of broken nylon clips holding the door card on. A few minutes spent over the weekend replacing all of them helped :)

Car has been sat for around 10 days which includes two hard frosts so I thought let's see how it starts!

Turned the key and rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsplutsplutsplutsplut feeble just firing for about 10 seconds and then cough cough small black puff from the exhaust and away it went. Cold starts generally have been getting longer. New plugs about 1000 miles ago.

Mine hasn’t been started for 1 year, give or take a week or two. Wonder how that will fair? I’ve plans to get the ball rolling in March , so will miss the winter, but should be an eventful first turn of the key!

Started slightly slower this frosty morning after 7 days of sitting about. Went off to see Luke to get the new coils and plugs fitted.

Really needed to be done too. Old coils had white pitting and spark plugs well past best. Really smooth now
