Drove it :) Awesome machine, forgotten how good they are. Quick q on temps. Now its a hot day and going around town, was getting 90-95c on the water temp and 80-85c on the oil temps. Take they're ok?
If anything those temps are a little low, depending where you have the sensors fitted.
Ideally coolant should be between 95-110C and the oil 100-115C.
However, if your sensors are just downstream from the radiator and coolers, then you're measuring the temps going back into the engine rather than within the engine.
If that's the oil temperature from an oil filter sandwich plate sensor then that's too low for comfort and I'd be looking for the cause, unless you'd only just started your journey.
It's warm enough to shut-off without worrying about flooding on the next restart but not hot enough to be giving it the full beans without risking damage.

Thanks for the replay Dave, the oil info is taken from the sandwich plate and the water downstream of the thermostat. Now I havent had alot of opportunity to really give the car the beans, as there is a lot of sunday drivers around (bank holiday weekend at the moment) and town is literally 5 mins away.

Dropped my car off to have the front end fillered and resprayed and alloys refurbished. Always did look a bit tatty but gotten quite bad with stone chips this year. The bad side of country lanes I guess...

If anyone has a chip protection recommendation?

don't want to quote getting messy.
As I mentioned previously the unite is rechargeable but needs to be plugged 90% of time, for 2 weeks period.
Afterward it will post back.
It's not tempered not even tem  only hardwire is done on the socket which put back together before posting.

For braking in box you only need a warranty void teflon spatula tho and its pointless for me cause I changed my job and ride Fixi daily to metro station.
any way car needs new brake slider on eBay 14 per set and changing rear disks to be roadworthy again. later under coat sealing, orange plastideep on wheels, deep cleaning the door seals and sunroof and silicone spraying.................. story of my life.
Most horrifying part of owning 8 is having flat tire.

Since its a nice day I'm also going to compression test it if I can get the eccentric shaft sensor unplugged!
Wat?

No need to unplug the E-shaft sensor... Just pull the fuel pump fuse.
you need to pull the e shaft sensor too or you get weird results (certainly on the testers bought in the group buy)
That is very odd. Never seen that before - apologies for the potential mis-information!

Waved it goodbye as the accident repair bloke drove it away to fix it (hopefully properly). He predicted the painter will have a nightmare job matching the sparkling black with the correct level of metal flake. That seemed to cheer him up.

I always thought my family were being dramatic saying they could tell when I was arriving home. 95db doesn't sound like a big number. But after hearing it leave down the road, and down the next road, aaaand all the way down the local bypass. I think I'll be more mindful of the neighbours once I get it back.

Van drove into the back of it a couple of weeks ago, just taken this long to get it off for repair. Insurance company have been very supportive so far. Their repairer gives me bad vibes though, so I'll be taking the rear off when I get it back from them and checking they actually replaced the damaged parts, rather than just reform/bond the bumper and paint over the damage.

I think its quite likely tester specific. The RCT-V5.2 doesn't require it but the version Im borrowing does I do believe.

A guy I worked with got rear-ended in his brand new Sierra (it was a while ago) and the damage looked superficial, just the bumper cracked, one broken light and the bottom corner of the tailgate caught.

The dealer did the repair, ordered by the insurance company.

A couple of weeks after he got the car back, he was contacted by the ins co to arrange a "random review for quality purposes".

The engineer from the ins co came to the office at lunchtime, so a few of us went out to watch and have a chat.
He had a look around the outside of the car and was happy with the shut lines and the paint finish.
He then opened the back and pulled the carpet away to check behind, again happy.
Then he opened both front doors and wound the front seat backs upright, but they didn't line up, as one was more upright than the other. From this he concluded, as was later proven correct, that the entire floor had buckled in the impact and that the car needed a re-shell.
He said that the car was dangerous to drive and wouldn't be insured, even just to go home.
After lots of phone calls with the insurance company, the car was collected on a low-loader and a courtesy car left in its place.
Many more calls and a solicitors letter later and he had a new replacement car delivered.

I've also heard on lots of cars, especially VW's, where the entire rear crash structure has been crushed but there's barely a mark left on the bumper.

Thanks Dave. Yeah everyone at the repairer has looked at me confused whenever I've suggested that that the energy could have been transferred further along the car... so it's worth checking beyond the body work. Nice to know I'm not going crazy... they're just not very good. Will be very careful to check their work when it comes back. Probably take a trip to see bigpete.
