Why not an ignition live relay to disconnect it?

Coolant change today, nice luminous pink colour now....
Old one didn't look bad to be honest when it came out but had no evidence of when it was last changed.

Didn’t think of that, however that would have been beyond my electrical comfort zone  my way I’ve only got 2 wires to worry about :thumright:

I've pretty much done the same thing on a customer's car recently - I can send you a relay with all the wires labelled if you like - car leccies aren't that hard.

Thanks for the offer Nick, but as I have fitted the switch now, I’ll just leave it as it is.

Mocked up fitment of a USA rear foglight delete emblem, it doesn't fit too well so will need to make the bumper cutout a bit narrower.
IMG_20190106_154758 (1).jpg
Bought a laser foglight from China which I intended on shining through the hole but it's really cheaply made, no waterproofing so will have to do something custom.

A diode on the live wire to stop any higher voltages flowing from the engine to the solar panel?

solar panels usually include such a diode as standard anyway. stops them discharging at night.

That would protect the panel from the 14.5V of the "12V" supply when the engine is running.
However, the draw of the starter pulls the 12v waaay below 12 actual volts, which the panel would effectively see as a short circuit across its output.
Diodes also have a forward voltage drop (in the order of 0.7V) which the panel would have to overcome when trying to charge the battery.

Was worried about wear on obd port from plugging / unplugging solar charger so bought one of these...
(will also allow my obd reader to stay connected) 😁

Edit:
Quick test fit over lunch and still allowing charge via solar (so not a totally useless ebay purchase from china) - yet to put obd reader back on though.
And my coolant level looks okay so (probably) haven't got any leaks after change.

You know that you can unclip the ODB2 port and tuck it away underneath.

You might then be able to get one of those white connectors to lock in the original mount.

Looking forward to hearing about your CAI and exhaust differences on the dyno.
All I know at the moment is +10whp peak increase. When I got home and compared the graphs from the stock visit, the original visit had RPM on the X-axis and the printout from the 2nd run had MPH which is a bit annoying. So I don't know how the graphs actually compare. Could be 20whp down across the whole range apart from that one +10 point for all I know. I've asked for all runs to be emailed individually plus the best run from both visits to be overlaid on the same graph, all with RPM on the Xaxis. I'll update when I get them through...

Nice flammage though :P

flame.jpg
Look forward to seeing those. Nice pic!

You could extract the data from the graphs https://automeris.io/WebPlotDigitizer/
Here it is. Sorry I've just overlaided them with some transparency for now so lines are the same colour...

-Stock (Except RR D585 and ER "minimap" and Japspeed HiFlo Cat): lower set.
-RRP Single Resonated DeCat, Miltek/Pettit Catback, AEM CAI: upper set.

RRP remote remap coming soon, then another run.

I might chat to the guys at EST when I'm there next and ask about things like how temperatures effect things on the dyno and what the drag line is all about... Unless anyone wants to school me here.

Drag is fly minus wheel. I.e. the drag on the engine resources by the time it gets to the wheels.
So 160 ish at wheels whp = 210 'norm' - (fly) difference is 50 lost in drag.

Oh OK, so the drag is an "assumed" figure in this instance? Am I right in thinking that the only measured number here is WHP and torque? These being the actual readings made by the dyno? The drag number is guessed or calculated based on you telling the computer things like what the car is, and what it measures the conditions locally to be (intake temperature, ambient temperature, humidity and air pressure)? It then is added as you say to the measured number to give the norm number...?

It depends..... A good dyno run will have a coast down run, during which the drag is measured. However, some dynos will just use a "made up" percentage of the measured power. You should ask the dyno operator if the drag is assumed or measured.

It might be a optical illusion in the photo but it does look like the ground electrodes had eroded back quite a long way.
On new plugs the ground electrodes go completely over the centre electrodes.

This would mean that your plug replacement was well overdue, apart from the build-up of crud.

What were the outsides looking like?

Cheers Pete. I actually decided to have a read through Maha user manual last night to try and learn a bit more about what they’re doing. Yes I’ve got a bit of time on my hands at the moment..... Going to ask a few questions next time I go after the remap.

Blimey can't recall the last time I used one of them.
Suppose lighter socket ones are a bit expensive to run on a Rex, but either use my ryobi one with power pack or run one off my battery booster pack.

Fitted my new ebc disc's and pads all round, took about 3 hours all told, including checking and lubing slider pins, one was a little sticky, but is all good now. lubed up the steering column uj as well due to steering getting a little notchy, couple of applications of spray grease followed by a good rub of high melting point grease. Let's see how it likes that.

Realised my fuel gauge lies.

Needle got well below the last line and light on 25 miles ago, couldn't risk any further, I was getting well twitchy - still only got 56 litres in her.
Small tank or drama queen gauge?
I guess the only way to find out for sure would be to run it dry, but that seems like a bad idea!
