Had the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti 225/40/R19 fitted today. Found a good local garage to do the work, and spent a while talking to the owner (who turned out to be a proper car enthusiast).

Oh, and thoroughly enjoyed bedding in the tyres - the blue lines are already gone
(Former Chairman, Membership Secretary, and long time Admin)
R3 Aurora Blue Mica - Racing Brake calipers, rotors and steel brake lines - Racing Beat exhaust - TARGA2 sensors - Lockwood grilles - blue LEDs - side and fog light upgrades - window tints - Eibach spacers
And still three gears left...

Went to change the rear brakes yesterday, then realised they were wind back pistons. That makes two cars of mine now, so will pop to machinemart and get the kit rather than resorting to borrowing it off a mate each time.

See the diy section for a really good write-up on doing the brakes, complete with photos.

Starts with the fronts, just scroll down for the rears.

Ah good shout, I thought I knew all of that but I didn't. I will return armed with wind back tool... and hammerite! Another little bit of value extracted from the membership fee :thumleft:

After suffering from brake judder before and during the Croft track day last Tuesday, plus the brake went decidedly "less sharp" after lunch I finally got time to have a look at the fronts today and they say a picture tells a thousand words so feast your eyes.

Note the missing pad locating spring which has allowed the pads to move forward and overlap the outer edge of the disc.

Changed engine oil, now my oil pressure guage is acting a little weird. When I'm 6k rpm and over I'm reading over 7 bar on the rspec guage. First thought was Ive over filled it, but I've only used 4 litres on the change so rules over filling out. Hard to tell also on the dipstick as the oil is so clean, but I'm sure it's half way up. I've kept the same filter as I've only done 500 miles since the last change and also have a greddy sump fitted.

The official Mazda minimum oil pressure check is to heat the oil to 100'C, run at a steady 3000rpm and the minimum pressure you should see is 3 bar.
Note that an uprated relief valve will not affect the pressure at this rpm.
7bar at 6k is good

Thanks for that Chris. I didn't recall it running that high pre oil change and got me a little worried, considering the guage Max's out at 7 bar, so I'm not sure where the max result at the beep would be. No oil leaks and running sweet as a nut too.

Put my car through MoT today, got advisory for rear brake pads and apparently my front driver side is completely worn so I’ve order ebc Redstuff all around other than that there are no other issues.

Took the discs in today for grinding and the Greddy sump too as I managed to strip the thread on the temp sensor by fitting an incorrect thread adaptor. Plus the sump to block joint was weeping anyway and the way it came off easily confirmed the sealant I used was crap, now I have some good black goo!
SORNed the car for September as I am away for 3 weeks so it wont be driving it at all.

fitted my new brakes all around, job went smooth apart from breaking my only 14 socket so treated myself to a new quality socket set. Brand new ebc red stuff brakes are amazing, the car tries to throw me through the windscreen every time I brake.

Car passed mot with no issues at all.
