Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Lubed up the steering UJ while the car was in the air - pushing on the brake disk has become a bit easier, so hopefully it wasn't too bad to start with (never felt heavy or inconsistent).
Then finished undersealing the car today with Dinitrol 479 (luckily no rust beyond very very light surface rust was found which was treated with some Bilt-Hamber Hydrate80 ) . It's meant to be an undersealer and a sound deadender also. It'll be interesting to see if it actually adds any reduction in resonance in practice or not (I know using a 3M product on my E30 made no real difference). I'll find out when it's dry!
Tomorrow, the first coat of Bilt-Hamber UB wax and some Dynax for the cavities will be on the cards. Final coat of wax on Tuesday after the first has dried.
It's been a dull, several day task, but glad it's been done, confirmed the car is as solid as expected when I bought it, and should be good for another few years yet!
One thing I did find from when I did this on my E30, was I used an air compressor and a Shultz gun. This was fast, but so, so messy! Everything under the car was covered in overspray, as was I, and anything else in proximity in the garage. This has all been done with a brush which is slower, but soooooo much neater!
https://www.dinitroldirect.com/product/dinitrol-479/
It's also reminded me how you can hide a multitude of sins with underseal though. Luckily I took photos along the way for proof of what's underneath for the future.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I finally got round to replacing my rear pads with yellowstuff pads but my rear driver calliper ended up being seized....
So in my free time waiting for my dad to come home to take me to rx motors to pick up a new calliper I ended up wiring up my halo eyes and made a snazzy little volume knob

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Neutral switch and SAI issues. I don't have SAI, so can ignore that one, but will see if the neutral switch CEL was a one-off. I think it might cause an idling issue if not operating correctly, but my car seemed OK for the 20 miles I had to drive it with the CEL.

Finished the final coat of Bilt Hamber Dynax-UB. Just need to wait for that to dry and then refit the arch liners and underfloor pans tomorrow, and then it'll be drivable for the first time in a couple of weeks!
