Me speed on UK roads Chris? Never ;)

Bentley Straight at Snetterton however is a good place to hold it to the redline in 4th. Especially a raised redline. I find changing up to 5th loses time.

P.s. I appreciated the nuance of what you meant earlier. That the very top end is where damage happens and the revs don't need to go that high in order to blow out the carbon.

Started the long and boring job of 2 stage machine polishing the car yesterday.
Results are pretty good though and will be worth it once its finished .

Gave her a wash and used some plastic dye to bring the faded plastic shrouds back to life. Amazing the difference it makes to the look of the car!

Not RX-8 related any more but since a lot of you used to follow the progress when it was rotary engined, finally got the buggy racing after the S2k engine swap at the weekend:

Actually we were holding back!
The clutch spline was knackered from a misalignment issue I didn't spot till a few days before the event and I didn't have a spare plate so put it back in and went gentle on it!
Was only expecting to get a few stages in so we babied it off the starts and tried to just stay in 3rd and 4th gear most of the time - but it lasted a full 2 days of racing so was very happy about that :D

I think I did have a thread here somewhere, might be in the members section these days.

Had the most annoying noise like really bad radio interference through gearstick which got even worse going down to castle combe and around the track put it down to the new thrust bearing playing up! Anyways on the way back vicky said have you checked your nuts (three small Allen bolts on illuminated knob ) I'd filled it with silicone as it didn't fit the shaft properly ,think it needed a sleeve at the top to stop it wobbling, the bolts hd in fact come slightly loose not to really notice due to silicone and was setting up this vibration so there we go boys always check your nuts before going for a drive

Before putting the winter tyres away, I thought I'd break a habit of a lifetime and give them a good clean before I wrap them up over summer.

I've bought some Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel ( thanks for the recommendations.on the club ) and this is the first time I've used a wheel cleaner that does the red/purpley thing. Got to say I'm impressed. These are my older tyres but this stuff managed to clean pretty much all of the dirt off, including in the corners, which previously I'd learned to live with.

It wasn't agitation free, I did brush the wheels, and I did go over the corners with a microfibre to get the last of the brake dust off but it was pretty easy with minimal rubbing.

Big thumbs up from me, and will test it on my newer alloys at some point soon. There was some brake grime that was kind of embedded on the front wheels so I'm hoping this will take it out!

Some pics... And I had to throw one in of the little shark, that I love on the rainsports.

Looks good, well done for trying it! If possible next time ditch the brush and just use a damp noodle mitt. I have a dedicated one for my wheels that I wash separately to the other cloths and towels, because the wheel cleaner is strong stuff.
A noodle mitt is safer for the finish and you won't need to use a cloth afterwards.

I finally managed to get my bike in the boot. Only had to remove the handlebars, both wheels, the saddle and both pedals.

That's going to be fun to assemble each time!

At least now I don't need to buy a roof rack or tow bar :D

(It did tear the boot weatherstrip though)

Would it be possible to put on the back seat in a bike bag,I am not a cyclist the bags seem popular down here I suppose there is less chance of them getting stolen

Thanks Mark, it's a good suggestion. If the bike fit across the back seats with just the front wheel removed then I would definitely put it in a bag and do that. I've tried it across the back seats but it's a couple of inches too long unless I remove both wheels. The bike is just too long.... or the car too narrow. If both wheels have to come off anyway; then the pedals, handlebar and saddle only add a couple of minutes assembly time.

The more I do it hopefully the faster I'll get. Although putting it in the boot requires care to avoid the speakers and amp. I managed to scuff the rear bumper a tiny bit too. So there's a 'knack' I need to practice.

Curses! The car started fine today but the revs went straight to 3000rpm and sat there. Reversed out of the garage into the road, into first gear and applied throttle and the revs held steady and no change in manifold pressure or power to pull away.
The engine was in limp mode!
Also now when locking and unlocking the indicators don’t flash.
I don’t know how to search for error codes as the ECU is an Adaptronic.

Nice work! I'd been wondering about this as I have a bike bag & wheel bags, I have a van from work that's ideal for chucking the bike in, but there's occasions I'm visiting family etc in the RX8 and wish I'd had my bike with me.
Think I'll give it a try this weekend :thumleft:

Installed a decat pipe from Gravity Performance. Couldn't find any reviews or opinions on it so I went in blindly, justifying it by thinking I'll give a small(?) local business a chance. Price was 150, similar to toyosports and japspeed decats. Not saying this is a magic brand or something, I'm positive all decat pipes would be like this but my god the power gains compared to my half collapsed cat is insane. It's one of those things that slowly get worse so you don't really notice how bad it REALLY is. I have not felt this amount of power from my car in about a year. I even have more torque! Used to have to drop gears on inclines like mad now I'm cruising up hills in 4th.

Checked out the throttle pedal and opening action and it looked OK on the screen but I wasn't really sure what I was looking on the screen so it was back to basics. There has been a high pitched low volume whine for quite a while now in the engine bay, with ignition on but engine not running, and when I unplugged the throttle body it wasn't there! I plugged in a spare throttle body, no whine, and it operated as expected. Off with the existing throttle body plugged it in again and it was dead but the whine was there.
Fitted the spare throttle body and everything is running fine again.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions especially 350Matt.

Been a busy day for me changed both front calipers, rotors and brake pads and then afterwards gave the car a well deserved clean

May have had a slight accident when dealing with a stuck nut and when it released I face planted the fender... but lets not talk about that got a lovely lump on top of my eyebrow coming up now

Also installed my dads new throttle body on the jag

Three things we have in common;

1) An RX8
2) Fitting throttle bodies recently
3) Faceplanting the wing when undoing a nut
