RRP ignition coils and leads now on the car, running sweetly. Scott (RRP) noted there is a vibration while in neutral and thinks the engine mounts are corroded so i guess that's the next thing on the list.
I broke the skin on my fingers trying to get the third brake bulb out. Got it out eventually, led works and doesnt trigger the bulb out warning, but the bulb is too big which is f ing annoying. It's in but cant secure the holder. But the boot clips back in too they were a pain.

Filled the car up for the trip down to RR in the morning, had an older guy walk up to me at the pump complimenting the car and talking about wankle engines which was pretty cool

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Waved goodbye to my RX-8
3 good years with it, time to go to a new enthusiast who can get some use out of it.
Now Jess is deciding what the money is spent on
Wont miss the fuel bill or the tax, but the drive out into the country roads and the pops and bangs sold it instantly. The way the bilstein suspension handles and the speed into corners shocked them.
Oh well, one to regret in the future. Off to have a shower to get the smell or v power out my hair and put my slippers on.
The door closes on rotary ownership for me

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
If you fit the wrong LED bulb to the centre brake light, then you don't get a bulb warning but the ABS system fails its preflight checks and both ABS and DSC are disabled.RichT_Derby wrote:RRP ignition coils and leads now on the car, running sweetly. Ah ok. I don't have any warning lights on the dash. But in all honesty the led bulb is way too bright so I might put the halogen back in or a smaller led if it's compatible. Thanks.

What amp rating should the main [thick] battery cable be, please? 170A enough?

Exciting day out to RR both solenoids changed and a clean of the plugs, seems to have fixed the issue I was having

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I would go for a minimum 200A if the battery is still in the engine bay, or 300A if you're relocating to the boot, to avoid excess voltage drop.
Note that many suppliers quote the maximum current capacity of a cable (before it catches fire), not the nominal capacity (which it should be happy with all the time).
That's a bit like selling chain or rope based on the breaking load, rather than the Safe Working Load.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Can I just add my thoughts on this, I had a set of pz nero's fitted a few years ago and quite a while later I had all valve stems cracked ,I blamed it on the stems fitted with the tyres but thinking back it may have been due to the tpms caps loading weight to the stems on track ! Just my thoughts30405 wrote:"finished" my tmps project

Looked under the bonnet trying to find where the squeal is coming from, it would appear to be water pump pully location using a piece of 22mm pipe ,only below 2.2k revs is this a new pump or ?

Check the belt tension. Also if that’s ok put a drop of beak fluid onto the running pulley if it stops squeaking change the belt.
