Those claw ones I find don't go small enough for out filters. Maybe I just bought the wrong size but it just slipped and I chucked it.

Strap ones have worked for me in the past, and those chain ones I've heard work well (but I've never tried). Worth a go I think.

Pinch a set of marigolds from the Mrs for a bit and see if you get anywhere before taking the hit on another tool though.

I used the 3 finger one and too found it did not grip our filters. So I put a piece of silicone tube on each leg then it worked a treat!

I've got the three pronged one, mines got a rubber coating on the ends and seems to work ok
Thought about fitting and oil sandwich filter but if I did I don't think there would be enough clearance.

This week I painted my wheels copper, the paint looks a bit more bling in real life than it did on the can so unsure ATM wether to tone it down a bit.

A damp microfibre cloth (one that looks like towel) is great aiding grip when undoing stuff, works on oil filters and pickle jars ;)

Ditto! I have the chain one and once you get the knack of setting it, I set the size on a filter that's off the car and then slip it over the fitted one.

I'm loving the copper look untaken! The roads are littered with too many silver, black and grey wheels. :thumright:

Took my loyal 192 for a dyno run today. I'm rather happy with the torque figure, considering she's a standard non-ported engine with roughly 40k miles on the clock, and no custom mapping... yet. Truth be told I'm happy with how she pulls, although she lacks in pulling power against a supercharged 535i e34 and turbo'd s13 200sx she makes up plenty of ground in the corners. :)

As mentioned before, the absolute numbers on dyno charts don't mean much, due to the massive variables.

However your curves look good and, assuming that was from Rotary Revs, you can make reasonable comparisons with other RR customers results, recognising that both air temperature and barometric pressure were probably different.

Oh indeed, and yes this was run at Rotary Revs. The graph looks almost identical to Lemon's 192, which was ran on the same Dyno last September. The torque certainly falls off quite quick after it's peak on a 192, but I guess that must be a limitation of the 4 port engine design without porting work helping to make up some of the deficit when compared to a 231. Overall i'm pretty pleased with how she ran. A custom map by Carl will have to be one of my next ventures, seen as it seems so well reviewed. :)

Failed on the HID kit but I'm not having it. Passed the last time with the HID kit on the car no problem. Asked to speak to a supervisor and told him as much. I was raging at this point. He said he thinks the regs have changed since the last time I had an NCT.

I said show me, he said it should be on the website.Im still not having it, told him give me a complaints form and also the name of the tester who was a pr!ck
He'll be getting a mention on the complaints form too.

When I had my wheels done a few months ago they were, due to a misunderstanding, done in a copper slip-like colour. it was a bit lairy for my liking so I went for something a bit more subtle (pic below is the first attempt that was changed)

It is now a major fail if you fit HIDs to a car that came with halogens from the factory even if the aim is correct. This is a new MOT rule for this year.

At least the nct doesn't require an emissions test for rotary engines, which is why most of the boys run decats.
