When I play it back in my mind I saw the DSC kick in and the car slowed down. I didn't see if the ABS kicked in or not

Took my car out a few nights ago. Aqua planed over a huge puddle not fast (40m) and didn't see it until it was too late.
Hit the damned thing it slowed me down and ended up on the edge of the roadside. Scraped the wheels, bulging front tyre now. Getting replaced today.
I only noticed today that it also blew one of my shrouds off and the other was hanging.
Passenger side carpet is drenched and ingress in my headlight.
I'm so lucky I didn't fully loose it and the car managed to stay straight and not plow me into a ditch

Aquaplaining is always spooky, glad the majority of the damage is ‘cosmetic’. Okay a new tyre but it coulda been worse!

It's just possible that "without decent tyres on like the rainsports" you might not have got fast enough to have had the aquaplane
Of course,, if you had with ditchfinders on, then you may well have ended much worse.

This reminds me of a discussion I was having with a mate who was a recovery driver when the heavy snow was around in the Spalding area.

95% of the vehicles he was dragging out of hedges were 4x4s and/or cars with winter tyres fitted.
Apparently, 2WD cars with summer tyres couldn't make it out of the residential streets or get enough speed up to have a problem.

One Audi 4x4 with winter tyres got so far off the road, over the dyke and into the field that it took 3 weeks to recover it, and the farmer put in a claim for unauthorised parking!

Anyway, shame about your tyre, trim and underwear bill

Thanks everyone for the support. I just got back from the tyre guy. He looked at the front 2 and said they were down to the bands and asked why ATS had put it down as 6mm, 2 weeks ago.
Not trying to point fingers. It was my fault for not keeping on top of it and trusting others.
Front 2 have now been replaced with the rear (2mths old) and new to the rear.

Glad you're OK. It's pretty frightening when you have zero control of the car, and you are just waiting to see what happens.

As an aside, you have wider than standard 245 tyres fitted. These will increase the likelihood of aquaplanning quite significantly. Nothing wrong with going wider, of course, and for dry grip they may help, but it's important to acknowledge the compromises, and aquaplanning is one of those compromises. If anyone does have wider than stock tyres, and especially if the tread depth is getting low or they are at lower than normal pressure, it wise to take extra care through deep water.

Could not find them from UK supplier, so yes it is a China company, they were straight swap but the clips were slightly short by like 1mm so have to file it back a little. So far so good.

I purchased this from eBay, just remove the original door light lens and bulb then replace it with this one.

One thing about those LED projectors I don't particularly like is how bulbuous they might look in the door when fitted... I wonder as to why they're designed this specific way and if it would be possible to make them look a bit... Neater maybe?
