Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Hi John, You should have had a reminder email in March, and then another in July as we extended everyone's membership by three months due to the initial pandemic lockdown. It would have been to the email address you used to register and renew previously, not necessarily the one linked to your forum account where these are different.
Your profile would also have been listed in the associated forum posts viewtopic.php?f=41&t=81472 and viewtopic.php?f=41&t=82051
Of course, you are more than welcome to renew your membership at this point - you still qualify for the renewal rate

Managed to get this thing out after about an hour of trying to undo the bolts and pull the plugs without dismantling the dash....

Think it's something to do with the meta data on the picture due to flipping between landscape and portrait and it doesn't properly register the change

A sincere apology to all concerned regarding membership reminders.
I did receive emails in both March and July and simply failed to notice them amongst the rest of the email junk.
Sorry.

So after sorting out my airbag and brakes I was ready to get the car down and take it for a quick driver, however my car decided to through a p0076 code as well as not accelerating past 8mph and illuminating a flashing dsc light.....

I can't see how those two are related.
The DSC light could be a sensor, wiring or just a very soft tyre.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Planned to put the cassette player stereo I bought off BigPete into my car today but know how much of a clutz I am and just know I'll drop a screw into an inaccessible place. So I decided to buy some magnetic tipped screwdrivers for the job - arriving tomorrow.
So I decided to fit the stainless steel exhaust cowl liners. Problem is I fitted a ToyoSports cat back in the summer and promptly melted part of the cowl. My solution at the time was to grab the Dremel and 'adapt' the cowl.
The SS liners are too long for the cowls so out came the Dremel. We've had a chap in refurbishing the girls' bathroom and I bought the world's hardest tiles and so I lent him my Dremel to nibble the tiles to fit around pipes etc. I've not looked at it since he finished the job a few weeks ago and was a tad disappointed to find the Dremel locking button broken.
Anyway, I removed the plastic cowls, popped the ss liners in and used a Sharpie to show what needs cutting away in order to make them fit. I got the Dremel to take a grinding wheel but seven wheels later I am only a third of the way through one of the liners.
Called Amazon and processed a return for the Dremel (they are fab with their no quibble guarantee) and ordered another one, plus diamond grinding wheels, and will try and finish the job tomorrow.
And then I need to clean the car after my jaunt up to BigPete earlier in the week. And Mrs Smutty has made it clear that I AM going to clean her mummy bus.
And if I don't do those jobs and take an extraordinarily long time over it then I'll have to decorate (with two coats of paint, four hours apart) two bedrooms and a stupidly long corridor.
Yeah, those car jobs will probably take me all day...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Three cars cleaned and waxed.
Stainless steel exhaust cowl liners mostly fitted. Amazon have let me down with next day delivery. So just waiting for nuts, washers and bolts.
Stereo not done.
Mrs Smutty doesn't cook roast dinners so all work has stopped in order to feed a small army of wife and too many children.
Probably not going to get to do the stereo until later in the week.
Flipping paintbrush calling my name on Monday...

Very rural and agricultural some of the journey there isn't it!SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 8:47 pmAnd then I need to clean the car after my jaunt up to BigPete earlier in the week. And Mrs Smutty has made it clear that I AM going to clean her mummy bus.
Bigpete and I have the following ritual:
1: I spend lots of effort getting the car clean before he sees it
2: Car always gets filthy on the way there
3: Pete notes that my car is always dirty
4: I roll my eyes

Whilst I am not born and bred in these parts, I know the A1101 rather well.New Duke wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 2:06 pmVery rural and agricultural some of the journey there isn't it!SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 8:47 pmAnd then I need to clean the car after my jaunt up to BigPete earlier in the week. The A1101 has great long tracts that are below sea level, thus my tail lights normally feel right at home. Oh, and Mrs Smutty is a mighty Grimbarian so trips to see the in-laws involve the joys of the A1101, A47 for a short squirt whilst trying to remember the average speed cameras, then the A17 followed by a fun road cross-country towards Brigg. Most of the time we stare at the back end of some agri vehicle whilst cursing the time wasted cleaning the car beforehand.
I think BigPete needs to relocate further south...

“A Mighty Grimbarian” I bet she loves that description. Grimsby has loads of bad press, thanks Sasha Baton Cohen, I lived in Cleethorpes and worked in Grimsby from 74 to 76, real party years, say no more!SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 2:37 pmWhilst I am not born and bred in these parts, I know the A1101 rather well.New Duke wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 2:06 pmVery rural and agricultural some of the journey there isn't it!SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 8:47 pmAnd then I need to clean the car after my jaunt up to BigPete earlier in the week. So I have taken off the uim to try and swap out my vid solenoid and I have noticed that the logo on it is upside down?
Just wondering if it’s a knock off solenoid either way it’s getting replaced now but just curious if anyone knows

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I have now sorted my p0076 error and now I have to deal with the misfire issue which has come back. I have both the p300 error and p302 error but I have a set of new plugs and rrp coils in the car. When I had the uim off I looked for any disconnected or degraded hoses and couldn’t find anything.
Anyone have any ideas apart from maybe wires as I don’t know when they were last done
