Note that many "sealed for life" batteries aren't really and still vent off when charging, which drops the fluid level over time.
This leaves large sections of the plates dry and significantly reduces the CCA - cold cranking amps.
Try popping off the cover strip on the top of the battery and adding distilled water until the plates are covered, and then giving a charge.
i have topped it up and charged it and its showing a steady 6 volts on my h/d drop tester....its been starting fine hot and cold since i got the car,2 seconds cranking ...since the new basttery the startup is instant.
In preparation for blast cleaning I Stripped out the front cover of the spare engine I am building. Discovered a curious dual section chamber behind a plate which has a small jet in it. The ES sensor was totally corroded into its housing an necessitated total marmalisation and slotting of the steel case to remove it, had this been in a car it would have been a total nightmare as you think that it's moving but in reality it's only the centre innards! Glad I decided to remove it as had it been faulty...well irritating is a mild description.
Cover, housings and irons going for blasting and ultrasonic cleaning respectively this week.

Put on some R3 sideskirts I bought last year when I still had my grey RX8 which randomly happened to be in the exact same colour as the Kuro I now have and also sealed the undertray where it sags in the middle at high speeds with some neoprene weatherseal.

Thanks, I think painting the mirrors and spoiler red brings it upto date as there's so many cars on the road now with red mirrors, the left hand mirror had a chemical reaction in the basecoat and has wrinkled so I'll have to paint it again at some point once the temperatures rise again.
and if your undertray starts sagging again Essex Rotary do a nice aluminium one (I've got one).

Did some side skirt work Today Before fitting the new Mods as they had a bit of a battering over the last few years ( bloody speed humps ) any way made some wheel blocks x 4 and 2 new 3ton jacks to get up all works well as I am getting a little old to be using the hand jack on the drive way plus its gravel so can get a bit tetchy sometimes....
all four wheels up takes around 5/10 mins to set up and is around 16/18 inches of the deck so you can get under the car.....

Housings, irons, rotors and a box of bits dropped off today for ultrasonic cleaning and slurry blasting as appropriate.
Estimated 3 weeks turn around, busy little place!!
Strangely they don't actually look that dirty in the photographs after my initial light degrease.

Well you see it was very technical and went something like below, had this been in a car then I would still be out there I think!
1 ) Remove 10mm retaining bolt
2 ) Grasp sensor body and try to rotate back and forth slightly whilst also pulling
3 ) Realise that whilst the rotation motion is getting slightly greater the metal bit at the far end is not moving
4 ) Feel a slight crunching
5 ) Realise the sensor is now busted, feel depressed for a second or two
6 ) Apply pipe wrench and break off the plastic section
7 ) Drift small chisel into sensor centre and rotate whilst removing
8 ) With narrow nose pliers pull out all the fine coper wire, and core of the sensor
9 ) With a junior hacksaw carefully cut a slot in the sensor body ensuring minimal intrusion into the alloy housing
10 ) Body will collapse slightly and easily be removed from the housing
11 ) Marvel at the white aluminium oxide corrosion deposits inside the housing
12 ) Curse Mazdas design engineers for such a stupid installation of steel against aluminium.
Nothing magic Nick just vandalism.

These bad boys arrived today from the states, had to pay 15 quid for vat but no import charges there not the best colour match sadly so will probably get them repainted before fitting then.
Had to raise the ride height of the car quite substantially just to get the car on the drive without grounding out of the new place I'm renting which has one of the worst designed driveways
driveway.png
I made the height level all round on the front and rear (measuring from centercap to the lip of the wheel well) but I saw a stock rx8 today parked and the front looked slightly higher than the rear
Shaggy swapped his silver roof rail strips for green and I sprayed my yellow ones black.
You might consider trying yours in that red
I hadn't even thought of that! Something to do when the weather warms up, I also thought about getting one of those number plate recess fillers and painting it red.
I'm going to paint the chrome bits inside of the front lights red as well when I fit DRL's inside the lights in the holidays.

Had added this and also the higher pressure oil valve in the sump to the basket this weekend to take offer of the black friday sale but then forgot about it as I got distracted halfway through

Today was my first visit back to LC Rotary with the new R3 since coming back to RX8 ownership, how good it feels. Treated the car to a full service and a bit more
