Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Basically what Chris said. In my car I used a 2.2ohm resistor with a fuse which worked for both my drivers and passenger seats but didn’t work on my wheel.
Issue is though that I had to cut the air bag wires and solder directly it to them using the plug off of the seat as they didn’t work when inserted into the plugs themselves.

It did on mine for both side airbags, both seat airbags and the passenger dash airbag.

Thanks for the airbag advice everyone. The warning being resistance based makes sense. I'll have a play.
I do have a S1 gearbox fitted. That may make it sit a bit lower.
No I just have a short one... at least it's plenty wide.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Well today I bought my first rotary. Very excited - until 5 mins into the drive home engine light comes on
Private buyer so cant take it back. Didnt have the light on during the test drive the day before.
P2096 and P2270 codes - Sad and frustrated now.
Also looking for a list of the relays in the under bonnet fuse box - my ST relay??? Is broken, so no ides what type it actually is
So I guess what I did today was pick up new car, park new car up spend all night figuring out whats wrong.

Could be as simple as a exhaust leak or a decat confusing the ecu. If you post a picture of the damaged relay (which could also be causing it) I’ll send you a replacement for the cost of postage

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I flew the RX8 flag at Snetterton yesterday. That was a hot one! I need to buy some thin trousers as my only comfy ones, that I wore yesterday, are fleece lined.
Day went well and managed 200 miles on track and freed approx 140 litres of dino from their underground prison. I overtook as many as I was overtaken by so it was nice to feel competitive. Tyres and brake pads just wanted to keep going despite the heat. I've got the softer compound RS-R and they were very happy. This was also the first time I've used bluestuff pads and I found them more resilient that M1144s, although they are noisier during road driving.
It was too hot for the engine despite some cooling mods I've done and the needle crept up meaning I needed to short shift at times. But it didn't spit out coolant or cut out altogether through overheating, both of which I've have had on hot days in the past. So that's an improvement.
I spun out at Nelson and did a near 360 degrees before rolling backwards. The car didn't like that and threw up the EML with a P0336 code. It didn't want to restart which was a bit bum sweaty as I was still on the track, but thankfully it did start on the 4th attempt. So I've still not caused a red flag . Got back and cleared the code and the engine was fine for the rest of the day.
One interesting moment during the afternoon session was changing up into 5th* at the end of the Senna Straight (so a 100-and-a-bit mph) and the usual exhaust pop was accompanied by some very large fiery bits flying behind the car. Big enough to see clearly in my rearview mirror. Looked like burnt paper being thrown in the air.
Anyone ideas if that's a bad thing or normal? I have small flames sometimes... but nothing like that . I don't have a cat. Car's been running fine since.
Met some really nice people yesterday and the car always gets some interest and my driving got some compliments. My joy in trackdays had been waning so a good day was just the ticket. I took some lovely photos... but instead here's a photo of someone's dirty face mask stuck fast to my front tyre...
*would normally keep it in 4th for Riches but: hot day and short shifting

It is a bit louder, which I'd thought was just my hearing. Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. Packing would be the correct kind of material too given what I saw in the air. If that's all it is then I'll be a happy boy

Please be careful with those. I can't see if you've got that plastic intact or if it's cut in the photo, so I'll say it anyways - check that the bonnet can shut okay with the rear piece of plastic in place (windscreen cowling). I know that my bonnet has been bent at the rear due to these struts (or similar design to these), as a previous owner/mechanic has slammed it down into that plastic as they didn't cut it - as that's exactly where the struts are meant to lie when the bonnet is closed.
Best to check now as yours may well be ok, but rather that than a bent bonnet like mine

They are fine, the soft rubber is compressed when closed but that's it, the plastic beneath is not in any way comprised.HarSc wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 7:54 pmPlease be careful with those. I can see the problem could happen if the bracket was deeper and more robust, so I guess choosing the cheap version worked out

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The Gauge of the metal for the bracket was not the best but did allow for a little persuasion to maximise the gap above the plastic, £25 ebay jobs, the pair of struts themselves work fine.HarSc wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 9:23 pmGood to hear! Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Gave my RX8 a quick wash along with the euro box. Kids were supposed to be helping but by the time I blew soap with the pressure washer on the 5008 and then pressure washed the rx8 they were bored.
At least the pressure washer seems good at getting the dirt our of all the rain channels it seems to collect in.
I do think sunlight silver is probably one of the better colours for not showing how dirty it is.
Shame the wheels let mine down now .... Definitely in need of a refurb.
