Yes the interior is in very good condition, as is the rest of the car bar the engine which has gone bang, so it’s sorn at the moment, still only got 1 on the road but that’s not quite standard . Possibly going to turn it into a track day car but not quite decided yet, you need 2 rx8s to waste you money on.
Spent the day giving it a good clean came out reasonable well

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Well finally got around to changing my rear arch guards which were still the originals on my 2010 R3. Got a guy to make them for me after I carefully peeled the old ones off, stuck them on card and sent them to him. He then cut them out for me. Used the wet method to attach with a bit of baby shampoo mixed with water to use as the slipping agent. We'll happy with the results

Have you still got your old chrome fuel cap ?Neith wrote: ↑Sat Aug 04, 2018 12:39 pmCouple of things over the last few weeks:
- Failed MOT (emissions)
- Replaced cat
- Passed MOT
- Cleaned MAF and reset NVRAM
- Replaced ignition leads with MSD ones (Mazda ones were going brittle and not sealing well, probably accelerated the cat failure but was caught early)
- Replaced chrome fuel flap with a standard Galaxy Grey one, looks miles better now. Colour match isn't 100% but still looks better than the horrible chrome one
Only thing letting it down now is the corroded blingy chrome wheels. Not sure whether to get them stripped and resprayed silver or whether it'd be cheaper to just buy new wheels.
Also need to join the club properly once I get paid

It says 03-08 in that link. I assume that they fit the R3 as well?CLOVERLEAF159 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 04, 2018 4:57 pmWell finally got around to changing my rear arch guards which were still the originals on my 2010 R3. If you ever get the chance to see SAS's first car you'll be in for a treat. It's rather special. The second would have been pocket money in comparison

Yeah actually I don't know why he's put till 08 as mines a 2010 R3 and he used mine as a template. I have ordered another set off him and they are fine. I will drop him a message.delta0 wrote:It says 03-08 in that link. All fitted I have to wait to test it fully now the centre wing is unlocked and supported by the linkage and springs but it was an easy mod

Yeah, this is it:
Bit marked in places but I think it's the original one from new. Took it off because I don't like the chrome accents on the car.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Ended up getting inadvertently pissed tonight so had a sober mate drive my car home, first time I've seen the modded brake lights with the pedal pressed (just the circles iluminate when the head/side lights are turned on).

Nothing special, typical Sunday morning wash and clean/polish exhaust tips, topped up the oil and that’s about it really!

Phoned for an update on it - as it's been 9 weeks today since it went back.
The assembly of the new engine hasn't been started yet ... but if I phone back this time next week there might be some meaningful progress.

If I thought there was anything I could do (short of legal action ... that's been suggested to me, but feels too extreme - and probably complicated, time consuming & expensive) that would influence the speed of this, then trust me, I'd give it a whirl.
