The Federal 595 RS-R, same as when we were at Blyton together. I used them here this time last year in the wet and they were all over the place. It's only damp at the moment so hopefully be OK. My wet tyres are bald so it had to be these.
Looking forward to seeing you again on track again next year I hope.
Thanks handsome. Always feels weird when you're not on a track day with me.GreySilver Beast wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:46 amHave a great day Haydn

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Ah well done, you choose wisely. Worry ye not about them.
The rain stopped early on and after a while the damp track turned dry. But they were fine in the damp. No scary behaviour. As usual I seemed to be the only car not breaking down or spinning off. The same silver MX5 spun out right in front of me on 3 occasions.
At the end of the day one of the instructors there came over to compliment me on my driving. He normally passes RX8s no problem but couldn't close on mine in 5 or so laps. He was particularly surprised that the car (and engine) are stock. He assumed it was at least bridgeported. I appreciated the compliment.
So that was a nice warm fuzzy feeling to end the day and track season. And means that I was certainly not held up by the choice of tyres

Which cabin filter did you get? Looking to do mine... But from brief searches theres... quite a few at varying price points/sizes all with OEM part numbers of some description.

Alot of the ones I was looking at were pattern or patternesque with higher price tags tbh. Will have to buy those on friday and get them in the car see if it helps with the misting issues.

Last time I changed my cabin filters I got them from mazda main dealer about £18 I think, probably more an ebay or the likes of euro car parts, but even so still didn't brake the bank

Wrapping a SS manifold is not recommended as it can cause cracking.Dentist wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:33 pmSonh and Headers + ghetto decat

Why have you vented a sealed battery?
That flexi joint looks ok, or us that a before picture. You can buy the whole cat fitting kit on line quite cheaply.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Modern batteries are sealed as in you can’t top them up but they do have vent holes. You need to remove at least one of the plugs to allow expansion gas to escape or your battery may burst.

Definitely do need to remove plugs. I discovered the previous owner (honest) did not and the mess it made was amazing. New battery had this stated on it in bold.

I'll hold my hands up, I fitted a battery without removing the transit bung. It swelled up and failed to hold a charge. I was lucky it only cost me pennies for a new battery

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I ended up grinding first few thread on stud and zip tie compress spring to fit easier, my flange gasket was way thicker.
after fitting spring just torch burn tip ties to doing full torque. I hate chines counter fits !
every battery from Adam and Eve till now, needs vent. On today sealed battery there are interconnected vent hole on both sides and plugged
closed for shipping, as soon as you start using battery you should vent 'em or at lease one of 'em.
SO if you battery over charged, zener diod failed or.ext... wont be puke acid everywhere.
some designs even have tiny external filter.

those cheap iron flanges will fail any way, cant leave it naked too much heat also reduce gas temp and expand to rest of story.Wrapping a SS manifold is not recommended as it can cause cracking.
I hope it will last 3 years or maybe dog years

I assume you are asking whether that oil is OK to use in your SOHN / COFS tank (or as pre-mix)? I believe it's fine for this application.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I still believe wrapping is better than not.
Yes, there is a slight risk that it *might* increase the chance of the stainless steel failing.
However, without wrapping then you're guaranteed to be applying a much higher radiant heat to the offside engine mount and the steering uj, which the Yanks don't have to worry about, theirs being on the wrong side.
The OEM cast iron brick manifold has a heat shield to reduce this.
