PM me your address, email and mobile number and will get a postage price for your “Christmas present”julian.rx8 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 2:16 pmHi Chris,ChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:13 amIts best to remove the pulley before pulling the engine out so you have more forward space. But you know this now having been down the same road as me and damaging the pulley.julian.rx8 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 5:42 pmWell, I started pulling my engine today. It’s my first time doing this so wish me luck guys
Unfortunately I bent my pulley a bit, tried hammering it back down but it just wouldn’t work. Don’t think that this would be loving life at 10.000RPM
Will continue stripping the engine down tomorrow. Can’t wait for my engine hoist to arrive so I can finally pull it out next weekend
I have a spare pulley I wont be using so do you need me to send it as a Christmas gift which should avoid any importing costs. Just postage to pay.
I did actually remove the pulley before pulling the engine out (it's still in the car atm, will finally pull it this weekend) as I figured it would be impossible to pull the engine with the pulley still on. Unfortunately I did damage it while prying it of. If I could have your pulley that would be more than awesome. I'll figure out postage tonight and DM you then

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
What colour are you going for? I'm paying the refurbers a visit tomorrow to sort a gold or bronze for my black R3. They emailed last night dropping the quote down to £220 for all 4 (Xmas discount). Also going to get new tyres fitted - Rainsport 5s unless I make a snap decision on something else (maybe stretch to P Zeros, dunno yet).
But today I have spent so far reassembling the R3 rear end after fitting new driveshaft oil seals this morning. With any luck no more leaky
I had also started dismantling the 192 up until noticing the struts on the two cars appear to be identical so no point in swapping (192 appears to have R3 suspension, not PZ like I was told). So I'll be putting that back together shortly...

Forgot to say I pulled the illuminated knob off to fix it and well I couldn't find my original one so this had to do for now while it's in the shop I call it the Mazda X8-Type knob

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
For now it's a slight secret but my two favourites were white I really like the look of white rims on lukes 40th and the other option was shadow chrome I'm paying £360 for mine which considering how far I would have to travel otherwise is a good pricerotatopotato wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 3:47 pmWhat colour are you going for? I was thinking bronze for mine but just don't think it would have suited my car

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Nice, 360 is quite steep but if you don't have enough competition near you that'd make sense. I got about 4-5 quotes all around 250-280 in Glasgow. The ones now quoting 220 actually started out most expensive at just over 300.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Putting them on myself, I'm quite competent at rx8 spannering, will take about 30 minutes as I already have the 8 in the air due to oil cooler lines issues.RichT_Derby wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 3:49 pmGlad to hear. Are you fitting them or getting a garage to do it?

Well if you find that garages are going to charge you an arm and a leg I have been known to subcontract my skills out for a lot less than any garage, just ask Will.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I expected it to be rotten and seized so the fact it looks like the sills have been done and it turns over is a bonus. It’s a yellow though. Could have been cut in half and I’d still try and fix it

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Fitted replacement oil cooler hoses and new engine mounts, boy was it cold and windy out there! I need to try get used to the feel of the car with these engine mounts fitted, the car as a whole feels a lot smoother, although there is slightly more movement of the gearstick at idle(there was basically none with the RRP mounts, just a sight movement with OEM) £200 well spent I think

Thanks for the offer Paul, you're not a million miles away so I may take you up on it. Maybe you can fit a starter too if I provide it?

It's a 20 minute job with the car in the air, assuming things go to plan.

Well, we have lift-off. And I have no ideas how I'll get that thing back into there in the future
Oh, and also found this. Will have to weld some sheet metal into there soon. It looks worse than it actually is

Gave it a wash for the first time since acquiring it nearly three weeks ago
In my defence though, I've been fully focused on fixing things and swapping bits over.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Aye it does for sure, but up close there are unfortunately quite a few scratches. The drivers passenger door has some rust bubbling at the top where a chunk of paint is missing, and I need to take the skirts off at some point to verify that the sills are fine
