It was just a friendly suggestion.
Nick does a great job, whatever it is.
Of course it's not the exact same shade of blue My red tray doesn't exactly match my red silicon intake hose,or red enameled throttle body, either ..

Sorry I didn’t mean it to sound defensive but having read my reply back it does a bit.
I really appreciate the suggestion.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Had a Toyosport cat back exhaust installed last week.
Had all the brake discs and pads replaced and had a Japspeed sports cat installed today. Old brakes and cat were dead, with the MOT due tomorrow.
Needless to say it's been an expensive week.
Any opinions on respraying a 40th Anniversary?

Paint damage/repair or colour change?
The 40th Anniversary is rare enough to be more valuable in the original colour.
If you just want to change the colour then a wrap would be cheaper and has the added bonus of not harming the resale value.

Would be a colour change. Since I can do the paintwork myself, it would be cheaper for me to do it this way. Thinking white, need to look around to find the right onewarpc0il wrote:

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My advice would still be "Don't repaint a 40th Anniversary - unless you're planning to keep it beyond the point where resale value makes a difference"
Actually, the 40th Anni' is likely to be the first 8s to actually increase in value as the model becomes rarer and recognised as a classic - as long as it's either in good original condition and can be returned to, by just replacing parts.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Used some white spirit to clean the residue left in the swept area of windscreen.
Careful not to get any where near paint and wash with two jugs of hot water with a little detergent
Hopefully all smears now gone!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Well this morning was damp and cold and still have 1 Issue I had before... Maybe slightly less..
1st thing on morning Looks like condensation on outside of glass in Swept area but doesn't wipe away until glass warmed by demister.
Should say also cleaned wiper blades thoroughly and once glass is warmed wipes brilliantly.
Other than another attack with white spirit anyone got any ideas?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
White spirit is an oil, so leaves a thin residue itself.
Meths is a much better degreaser for glass and it used to be a good trick to put a shot of meths in the washer bottle water, to help clean the screen and to act as an anti-freeze.
Note I said "used to be" as you don't want meths anywhere near your headlights, since it will crazy/fog the plastic.
231 owners need to be very careful which screenwash they use, as many (especially "winter washes") aren't good for headlights.
Isopropyl alcohol is also good for cleaning glass, and bad for headlights.

Thanks for “winter wash” info. Is there a safe brand or a particular chemical/ingredient to avoid to keep our headlights safe?

I recommend Sonax in this DIY article, and I'd still go with that.
My original link, to their old site, was broken and I see that their new site has been updated, including...
I see that they now also do an XTREME version
Anyway, it is tricky finding a suitable product, though the phrases above give you a clue what to look out for.

try using vinegar on old newspaper for cleaning windscreen,it cuts straight thru road grime.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Whenever I'm cleaning glass I use vinegar with a few drops of washing up liquid, really old school way to clean glass but works, as for the newspaper that adds the extra sparkle, something to do with the ink. You could try a mix of vinegar and Isopropyl alcohol. Once the windscreen is clean try rain x this stops the misting effect left by the wipers

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Funny you should say about Rain-X as I've found that glass previously treated with Rain-X is much more prone to the mist effect, just as the wipers pass over. Then the only way to stop it is to give it a really good clean, maybe with something like T-Cut and leave well alone, or re-treat with Rain-X, unlike that wears and you have to start again.
Rain-X does shift the water well at speed, without the wipers, and can stop frost forming on the glass or at least make it easier to remove.

I think the rain x puts a coating on the wipers that cause the smearing once the treatment wears off.
