Ooooh, ooh, I know why there is no more video! I bet when you wind it over to build pressure in the oil system before starting, it weeps oil out and there's a hairline crack in the block you've never spotted. Image

Quick snapshot as was just ticking over for 20s at a time to find leaks - haven't even dialled in the timing or fuel yet, just on my base map - found plenty, as you can hear from the whistling noises. Anyway, it's alive!

Fitted some new door card fastener poppers with cushioning rubber bits in order to stop the squeek/jiffle in the driver door driving me crazy :shaking2: :banghead:

Jiffles gone :notworthy:

Next job - get the NSR brake looked at - think it's binding as it's having a groan when pushing car a few feet in the garage in neutral and it doesn't roll to a natural stop, it's being braked to a stop
Can't be too bad as I can still push the car, but needs sorting before it gets worse. Intermittent at present.....

.....no I won't be buying a service pack and doing it myself, not competant enough to do brakes 8-[

Check the temperature of the brake compared to others after a drive, the diff, prop shaft and gear box could be causing the car to show a bit quicker

...can hear the pads grinding on the disc on that side when pushing car, disc hotter than others after a drive and wheel has more brake dust on than the others too.

Swapped winter tyres onto my spare rims. Looking at the weather forecast it's about the right time too! Thanks for the lend of the tyre changer and effort Phil, as much of a pain in the arse as it was it was amusing :)

Also, if anyone who changes tyres on here uses tyre sealant... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T

The PZ has gone away for 3 weeks or so. Will I cope?! There's nothing for it, I'm going to have to supercharge the missus MX-5 to compensate. Phil, where's that blower?!

I found a mobile air conditioning tech just around the corner from work and had him in today to re-gas the '8 after ahem losing some refrigerant during the recent radiator bothering.

WP_20160105_11_15_42_Pro.jpg

He's a nice chap and it was good to deal with someone that knew what they were doing and didn't mind explaining the process as I pestered him throughout. Apparently he is working on another RX-8 in the area (alas the owner is not on the forum) that suffered damage when Kwik-Fit over-charged the system and literally blew up the evaporator inside the cabin :!:

I had the usual service:

Nitrogen fill and leak test
Evacuation of current gas (what was left of it)
Charge with new refrigerant
Lubricant and dye injection

It took just under an hour and cost £50. He covers the South Wales area if you are interested: http://www.autocoolsouthwales.co.uk/
