Doesn't matter how good it is tinted headlights and smoked rear lenses are illegal. Three points each and a fine I think is the going rate. A bit more visible than the illegal decat too!

Not being a customiser myself I was not aware of this products properties but having looked at the website they do claim they are legal however the MOT rules they direct you to do also say the predominant light must be white or yellow. At the end of the day though most police cannot be bothered to stop people for coloured lights or "personalised" number plates with shifted letters so why worry. I just went to purchase a stick on number plate by the way and they are actually illegal now as well, plus all number plates must show the name of the maker and their postcode to be legal, now who the heck is going to enforce that one?????

I've had black flyeyes on the rear lights and side repeaters for 3 years now and no issues with MOT or Police.

The film prevents sunlight coming in from the side and giving a false impression that you're braking or indicating, and significantly improves the contrast when the lights are lit - totally unlike tint films or sprays.

Never been tempted to put them on the headlights though.

More investigation took place today into my spurious boomf. The car is starting to build a LTFT intermittently, and when it does, popping at lift-off ensues. It also sounds a bit odd. The CAT is still present and correct, the ignition looks good and the intake is clean. Re-setting the trim makes it run very nicely, until it learns after a while and starts adding fuel again. I am hopefully sourcing another fuel pump assembly soon (something different this time) and have booked in with myself for another compression test on Thursday, but fear a part swapping frenzy is about to happen.

The STFT does look like it's having trouble stabilising too so I feel it's probably fuel delivery. We will see

Whats your MAF reading? I am no expert in diagnostics but that I think is what drives change your mixture setting.
LTFT just tells the average fuel changes since the last reset, STFT will never be stable as it varies with throttle position, air temperature, air flow etc; If I am talking out of my wherever then I am sure someone will point this out!

No you are correct Chris. The MAF is reading correctly with ~ 5.2g/s at idle. I am used to a LTFT of between 0 and 2% across the three bands since I rebuilt it, but it hit 9.4 at one point yesterday. The STFT is taking longer to settle on steady throttle after tip-in enrichment, which suggests the fuel pressure is dropping or there is incomplete burn. Just sharing my woes :-({|=

I am just learning about all this OBD2 stuff and how to interpret the readings. Just did a run in BMW today from Brentwood to Colchester to Mendlesham to Cheltenham and it averaged 58.8mpg. 2.0ltd 186bhp diesel. It would have been more fun in the RX8, but 3 times as expensive on fuel!!!!!

Phil, funny you mentioned the popping sound on lift off - been having the same thing happen also - thought nothing of it until I read your post.

LTFT does creep up slowly and then needs a reset evey week or so. Will be interesting to see what you find with the new fuel pump assembly.

The last time it happened it turned out my pump was dying, which was remedied with a Walbro unit and all was good. However since I killed that I have been running a mix of old parts, so need to replace it all first. I'll keep you updated :thumleft:
