i would still consider lowering or coil overs dave, you will certainly tell the difference, and mines not that much firmer.

I can say after going out on track in Nicks car, the coilovers make a massive difference, i thought mine went round the bends good with just springs, but coil overs and EDFC is the way to go

I would love coilovers but it already bottoms out on my drive as well have to go very slow to not catch it.

If I lowered her I would have to park in the street and couldn't get near the garage.

As it is I have to cross the pavement at an angle to stop her scraping the underside.

Perfect reason to get coilovers Rob you can set them to whatever height you like. Higher than standard I do believe if you were that was inclined :?

Sadly the height is only adjustable with the C spanners and it means you need to get a new alignment when you do........

The EDFC (electronic damper force controller) allows you to adjust just the dampening force. So make it softer or harder (giggidy) front and back independantly, to 16 different levels (32 if you fiddle with the settings.... pointless though....)

I,m in favour of smaller diameter wheels for track days.
Lowers the car quickly and evenly without compromise on the road
I to have a sloping drive
Better shocks will always give you improved handling
If you put a mark on one ceration on each shock and upright you can adjust with the C-spanner without upsetting the ballance on the car if you do them all equally

Today has been very productive.

I undertook my first bit of work under a cars bonnet that wasn't checking oil and water etc. I replaced the ignition coils, ht leads and spark plugs. Took an epic 2 and a 1/2 hours but I'm proud of getting it done and it working superbly!

To celebrate my good work I spent 3 hours cleaning it and even managed to get the clay bar out on the entire car. Then from no where the sun came out so I went for a drive. Only for the heavens to then open up!

I'd been reading up on the 4.777 final gears on the yanks forum. But someone also mentions, 17's with wider and lower profile will produce the same effect and reduce unsprung weight.

But finding some 17's that fit over the brakes will be difficult...... also wont look as good, and will mess up the set up if you reduce the rolling radius, would require a 4 wheel alignement to utilize them properly. Otherwise will be the same rolling radius if you increase the tyre profile making it pointless.....

Only advantage I could see is cheaper tyres.......

You should be able to get 17s on all round.

Thers a lot of advantages to smaller diameter wheels for the track to my mind and as you say lower gearing (so more acceleration)
Less unsprung weight (more acceleration and speed)
Just lowers the car and keeps wishbones at same angle
Theres a big difference in the weight of different manufactures tyres but the RX8 is supposed to have stiff side walls which is where the weight is.
I would,nt bother with 4 wheel alinment just for rolling circumforance.
Speedo will read a little faster but some peopl may like that.
Is there a track day nutters thread as this probably is,nt the place to put this

New (fleebay) car mats arrived. Super thick ones. Makes me want to drive with bare feet.
Also took the opportunity to give the inside a good old vac and buff, cleaned and nourished all leather.
Looking forward to the arrival of my new carbon side vents.

Sold up, but did have fun with a 192, leather, sat-nav, crest, strakes, grilles, Toyo 'zorst, 6 speed 'box, anthracite wheels, bonnet struts, K&N, debadged boot.

No pistons or boobies, but still expensive.....
