Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Lower figures at the rear are common on 192's, as the rear stationary bearing is a weak design, which then always the e-shaft to whip and the rear rotor to tilt. When rebuilding, always fit the 231 part instead.
When I fitted my Sohn adaptor, it was one of the front oil injectors that I found to be totally blocked.
I've since found other members cars with blocked, or at least partially blocked, front oil injectors, though there's no reason I can identify why that should be more common on the front than the rear.

Thought I would try some new products so bought these.
Seal and shine first and the glaze second.
The glaze is easier to apply, I will probably do it every second wash.
The seal every 3 months between the valeter doing a proper job.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Similar figures to mine - mine was rebuilt 9k miles ago but has suffered with a few too few beeps and being parked up for a long time. I'm quite sure I'm not helping by keeping it in storage! I tried improving it with a hard drive and the compression went down a smidge, but I suspect the engine was hotter than when it was tested last time and the mileage was actually too few to have an effect. I've been meaning to put it on a rolling road to get some revs into it and then retesting but I've not gotten around to it.HarSc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 8:22 pmNot sure if it makes it any better that it was rebuilt just under 3000 miles ago in September 2019, this was I assume using the same housings as previous (unsure of refinishing etc, I don't believe so), but with a full genuine Mazda rebuild kit, so all seals/gaskets/bearings - So would have been essentially the same as this kit here, as I believe that's the mazda OEM kit also, and the price on the bill matches up.
Makes sense to me that it's pretty even, and i'm happy to see that. It's a bit low for my liking, but the test was done at operating temp, and a crank speed of 250-270, so at least I know the starter is good too hah!

Took it to nutty Pete and had a replacemen windscreen fitted, first time I've experienced a windscreen removal and installation first hand. Also picked up a few other bits whilst there and of course had a bit of a chat.

Swapped the stereo with one I purchased from nutty Pete, my old one had never really been brilliant at playing cds even when I first purchased it 13 years ago and needed constant lens cleaning to even play cds. Let's see how this one fairs

Haha glad I swapped out my cheap cat back to the decat after only maybe 100mi - honeycomb still looked fine. Also an annoying squeak that appeared around the time of the cat being fitted disappeared when the decat went back on

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
My car is due a service and ct next month so this morning I put the car over the pit to see if I needed to order any more parts.
After a good look around no problems were found, but the rear subframe mounting brackets looked a bit rough so I took them off give them a good clean with the wire wheel in the drill,I bought some spray on rust converter,it is easy to use and gets in all the awkward places.I them finished them with satin black paint five coats, now they look a lot better,I will refit them after f1 qualifying.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So I’m pretty sure my oil leak is a loose banjo bolt on the block which has dropped oil down and consequently sprayed underneath my car with oil.
Will give it a tighten up tomorrow and see if it makes any difference as the amount it’s leaking isn’t too bad.
Also started “welding” up an exhaust, using some power flow mufflers as my old one snapped in half from the sh*t welds of the guy I got it off of.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Got a spare throttle body from Pete yesterday, cleaned it up and gave it a coat of clear lacquer, cleaned the internals and fitted today, just so that the engine bay looks a bit cleaner only thing left to clean (apart from lower intake) is the alternator

Cleaned and lacquered my throttle body and air pump actuator, then placed a piece of rigid plastic tube over the ssv stop to get rid of the annoying rattle.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Finally finished welding up my exhaust today and am happy with the amount of noise it makes.
Also took my Rx8 off of sorn and took it for it’s first drive in 5 months (after a bit of maintenance) to the petrol station where I spent £70 on a tank, which stung a lot haha.

I was honestly devestated that I didn't get to take advantage of the cheap petrol during lockdown. Supposedly petrol prices are going to continue to be on the rise for a bit more yet as well!

The most it's cost me in the past was £80 for a full tank and that wasn't even at an expensive petrol station, its costing me about £60 for a full tank at the moment £1.25 a litre

Managed to trick low oil level warning light on dash with a good old paper clip. Just have to keep an eye on my oil but we all do that anyway.
