EDIT: worth saying, that I actually had a fairly positive experience with the Halfords Autocentre in Evesham. A very flexible and level headed team of people... I'm shocked just writing it!
I was at my local Halfords Autocentre on Saturday having the aircon serviced in my Volvo. They did a great job except that they'd turned on the service required indicator. Which on this model is a pain to turn off. Not a sequence of button pushes on this one, I've got to plug the Volvo software in. Grumble.

The car is also definitely not due a service :x

So am glad you had a better time, and got a pass :D

I mean, I had a good service in the sense that they were polite and flexible (allowing me to clear the EML for the knock sensor as it appeared just as they went to wheel it on the ramp). That also said, they said that they were unable to clear the fault code themselves as their code reader "didn't work on that model"... So, they were good - for a Halfords Autocentre. But it's a low water mark, for sure.

Spirit R lights in over the last few days, have to admit I didn’t realise the control units wouldn’t come with the new ones so there was a bit of faffing with rusted-in screws. Happy with the outcome though

I have a lot of love for the Spirit R seats as they're a much more muted red than the 'stripper red' interior of the S1s

Quite a variation in price on the inter web!

Excellent value for a dual display gauge with warning at £25:64 but the seller on Amazon is being hopeful!

For now I have just stuck these in as I had some laying about (they are stainless so will be okay while my car sits at home for a couple more months), but I might have to go get some of those as I don’t really like the look of the counter sunk ones.

Took her out for the first time this year, actually the first time since we were part of the escort convoy at Steve's funeral back in November :(

I was guilted into giving her a run after a local friend popped around a few days ago in something exotic from his collection*, and was looking for someone to come out and play.

Life has been getting in the way and I was reminded that it's just over a year since I survived the major heart attack, and the months that followed that had been the longest time my 8 had even been unused; a record I really didn't want to break.

Anyway, I can confirm that she started on the first touch of the key, despite my intention to spin the engine in deflood mode to prime the oil system, which I promptly forgot as soon as I sat in the car [-X

A 5 second puff of smoke/steam from the exhausts and then totally clear.

Up to the village and back, without any hesitation, though the warm-up was a little quicker than I expected.
Rinsed the dust off with a hose, and removed one of the mouse-mats, as it had been baltic and snowing back in November, and not so much now.

A quick check under the bonnet and I'm not entirely happy with the connection on the bottom of the Sohn tank.
20210514_125436.jpg
The hose had to be cut back having split the end just before the last outing, and I was sure that there was enough slack, but it seems to have pulled back. It's still firm if I try and pull it, with not even a weep of oil, but I'll redo it before we go any significant distance.

She still makes me smile to drive her, and even just looking at her in the sunshine...

20210514_130128.jpg
* I would tell you what it was and some of the others in his collection, but that could be spoilers for future Guess The Car entries

Paid a local garage to fit the Pettit racing exhaust and cat today and sounds so good 🤤
Just been to wet and I don’t have level ground to wrestle with it and would likely end up pulling her down on me.

The PZ exhaust has seen better days and was a massive pain to remove.
The decat is off and I no longer need it. It’s nothing special as far as I can tell.

Decided to climb Ben A'an this afternoon, so got to take the car for a _very_ spirited drive over Dukes Pass near Aberfoyle (spectacular scenery). Not only that, but I passed another Velocity Red 8 going through Aberfoyle - I dont often see others, let alone the same colour scheme as mine.

I've been seriously looking into this too. I can't find any SOHN adapters available in the UK though. And the Ryan Rotary reservoir is a bit pricey for me (looks lovely though...).

See if Ryan rotary will sell just the adapter, certainly when they started making them they sold just the adapter
