While I am waiting for my second wheel bearing to be delivered I thought it would be a good idea to take the suspension arms off clean them and paint them, also ordered a pair of drop links as mine look a bit ropy. I took the coil over out and stripped it,cleaned it,the powder coat on the spring was peeling off so I scraped it off and painted it,looks better now.
Took the wheel arch liner out and under sealed the exposed bit around the strut tower, reassembled everything and by them it was 9.30 pm and strictly had finished. 😀

I find it strange how spring manufacturers powder coat springs when it’s a brittle inflexible material, no wonder it cracks in service.

Worse is plastic coated springs, even though the plastic flexes.

The problem there is that the plastic still cracks or more likely wears through, allowing water inside which is trapped against the steel. The result is a perfect looking spring that suddenly collapses.

I thought that I would have a go at doing some basic refurbishment of the leather seats in the cars. The PZ seats are just creased and cracked from age. The 192 seats have some damage but BigPete is going to keep an eye out for a better driver's seat for me, which is incredibly kind of him.

This product requires the purchase of a sponge for its application and so having three daughters and a wife means I am an expert in women's make up. Well, that's my excuse and I am sticking to it. These egg shaped make-up sponges seem ideal so I bought a cheap one for this job.

The PZ before:

And the 192 before:

And the PZ after:

And the 192 after:

Again, as with all these things it needs to be remembered they are older cars and this kit is cheaper than a full leather seat refurbishment. I also used the liquid on a few scuffs on the steering wheel and that has come up a treat. It is gead easy to use - just thinly wipe on and then use the hair dryer to dry the coat out and apply another layer.

Did a buy. Continuing with the genuine Mazdaspeed parts, was never my original intention for the car, but I guess I'm running with it now.
Probably the best kit to look "OEM+", which I really like about it.

Weird thing is I have a 55 plate 231 and the seat leathers are completely smooth, yet every other car I saw with leathers have the ribbed covers. Not sure if it was a particular year or what.

My 2005 has ribbed (seats) - phnarr phnarr.

I do seriously need a new driver seat, massive repair on off-side bolster with a leather patch and Gorilla tape, not very sightly.

I know these seats are going to start to gnaw at me - thus I may see what the fees are from this chap:

https://leatherrepaircompany.com/leathe ... r-suffolk/

EDIT: Just got the quote. £140 to sort out the creases on the PZ seat and £200 for the repair to the 192. Think I'll live with it how it is!

Just a tip for the brackets it may be wirth trying.

My Mazdaspeed wing brackets began to look like these, so after rubbing them clean with some fine grade wire wool I treated them to a coat of a blue paint intended for glass. Not only was the colour remarkably close to Winning Blue but it was also tranparent so looked like they had been anodised, eight years on and it was still pristine.

Yeah I checked it and it was half full which is lucky. I will top it up when I leave and check fix it when I get home.

Issue is the car park now has a nice little rainbow effect all over it now

So I am going to install my gauges this week in the gauge pod I bought rather than the one I was originally fabricating as it’s easier for now.

However I only have a double gauge pod and I want 3 gauges.

So I am probably going to end up installing the third gauge in the drivers air vent and will make a little adapter to make it fit.

My question is though should I make it recessed al the way in or make the adapter come out the same amount as the normal air vent would?
This is purely for looks and I would just like to see your opinions ImageImage
