I spent £52 filling up the PZ. And spent another £300+ on kit for a thorough service plus a cheap cat. Hopefully I can sell the knackered OEM cat and recoup some cash.

So I went out to go and get some groceries and to my surprise my fog lights, rear lights and parking lights no longer function. My first thought was to replace the tail fuse and fog light fuses but nothing changed. Decided it was too cold and dark to spend any longer trying to sort it tonight .

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Over the weekend I did the first big job I've ever done that isn't bodywork related; installed an AEM intake.
As someone who is fairly clueless when it comes to anything under the bonnet, it took me 5 hours to do alone, following Driven By Madness' guide on youtube.
All in all a good experience and I've learned a fair bit from it, gained some induction noise, and hopefully a horsepower in the process.
The next day went out for a rip with another RX8 owner and saw just how much difference a freshly rebuilt bridge port gives in comparison to a stock engine with decent compression.

Nipped up to Rotary Revs back end of last week, had a bit of a custom service done, but it's looking good and driving incredibly well! They even did a mini photoshoot, and not going to lie I wish I knew how to take photos like that

Wheel bearing for the rear arrived today,so hopefully I will get it pressed in to night,Markl17 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 30, 2020 11:37 amHi
I have decided to build up the spare rear hub when the bearing gets here so I can just swop a complete hub.
I took out the old bearing ,took out the abs sensor and the rubber bush, cleaned up the hub and put a new bush in so just waiting for the new bearing now.

Not actually to the car but for the car...
After four years of planning and hard work, the 2-post lift was installed today.
The Wasp was waiting outside while the guys worked Looking good so far Hang on, it won't go all the way down One of the rams is faulty
The piston is fine but there's something stuck in the bottom of the cylinder Thankfully they have a new spare back at base, so will return tomorrow to finish the job.
In the meantime, who knew that the Germans have a sense of humour?

Mechanical installation of lift completed and commissioned, using temporary electric hook-up.
I just need to complete the permanent 3-phase supply before I can use.

Very nice Dave. I'm planning on getting one for myself for xmas. Any particular reason you chose that lift? I need to place my order soon so want to compare options. I'm currently planning on getting the one below to maximise loft space, but do have the clearance for 3m high posts:

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The brand was a given, as it's one of the few with reasonable product support over here, and I'd built a relationship with the supplier.
The model was down to the capacity, 3.6T gives a nice safety margin, and I have the benefit of having 3-phase power.
Features like "no raise lowering" (it doesn't have to go up further before it can go down) avoids problems with some jobs.
Low-profile arms, for the RX-8 plus it comes with lift pad extensions, which didn't matter when we made the choice, are handy for the Jeep.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Thanks a lot Dave. I'll take a look at it and the radius that the arms can cover. Ideally I need one that can lift (reach the lifting points on) a RX8, XF, XC70 and a VITO van.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Very nice Dave, I'm hoping my next house will have a spacious enough garage for a two-poster.
It would certainly be useful now, as yesterday I took the car for a drive to Glennifer Braes (lunch time walk - gotta love WFH), all fine, then I took it to the supermarket later in the day and suddenly the steering is tight/loose/tight/loose
Looking at viewtopic.php?t=79013 for a place to start - day off work tomorrow so I'll be cleaning connectors. Really hoping I don't need a new rack this winter as I'm not so keen on working on the car in my driveway :/

Gave the pas connectors under the airbox a dousing in contact cleaner - steering is definitely improved but still notchy, so I'm about to jack up the front and clean/lube the UJ.
