That oil should be fine for the 'box and I'd be interested to know if it, in combination with the OEM shift, helps the crunchy changes.

and :whathesaid: regarding the handbrake. There's a 10mm adjust just below the front of the lever.
If you've already put the centre console back on then access is via a section in the front of the centre cubby.

Failed to start it at around 07:30 as the battery was pretty low (lights came on and it tried to turn over slowly first time, but then went click click click).
Felt annoyed as it's a brand new battery and it's only a few days since it last went anywhere...
With the immediate need to go places otherwise sorted, I fetched the Focus and gave the 8 a jump start, then set off to take it for a run to help recharge the battery. Stopped 100 yards down the road and checked the driver's door, passenger door and then went and shut the boot! #-o
At least I know why the battery drained!

Gave it a run for 20 minutes or so, then had to park it a little away from the house (away from industrial gardening efforts e.g. dropping branches etc.)
Took it out for another 30 minute run this evening (Hardship huh!) so I could put it back on the driveway.
Checked everything was turned off and properly closed!
It'll get another decent run tomorrow.

Just want you folks to know that I went to see GhillieDhu's widow today and have agreed to buy his PZ from her. She is a lovely lady and I know it will be hard for her and their son to see the car go. I believe he owned it for quite a few years and enjoyed meets and track days with many of you.

I have assured Hazel that my intentions are wholly positive with the car. It runs and sounds great but I will take it up to see BigPete to give it the once over and complete a couple of minor jobs. Before that, I am going to book it in with a local body shop to get all of the surface rust dealt with and to do checks on the sills and bodywork. I'll also get it Krown treated over the winter.

I am picking the car up on Saturday and I'll post pics. This is one car that won't be allowed to disappear.

PS. How do I explain to Mrs Smutty that we now have two RX8s? She's never driven my 192 because she is scared of it, so I can hardly suggest a His 'n' Hers option.

Took it out for another 30 minute run to support a local business and charge the battery a bit more. Now almost down to 1/4 tank of fuel left from the last fill on 15th March... Who says they drink a lot!

Discovered soggy carpets in the front, driver & passenger side.

Not coolant from heater matrix, definitely dirty rainwater.

Rubber seals around doors are in good order with no tears or creases.

Any ideas where else to look for water ingress?

On some previous vehicles, there have been rubber drain tubes under the plastic scuttle between windscreen and engine bay, does the RX8 have similar.

Car lives outdoors all year round, so this is an issue I need to address.

Seems to have only happened recently, not been an issue in the previous 5-years of ownership.

Only recent works have been new sills fitted (both sides) and underseal - has something been dislodged or sealed over that was a drain?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check the cabin air filters for accumulated muck.

Easy job, no tools required, but the cover can be brittle in cool weather, so be careful not to snap.

Okay so received news from the garage today about my car... Apparently the second key also doesn't start it (no relay clicks etc). Seeing as the car started perfectly fine and drove perfectly happily when I took it there this seems all to convenient to me. What could have changed between the car being dropped off and him having a look for the keys to now suddenly not fire anything... Half tempted to tell him to sort the PPF not to touch anything else and I'll be over to collect the car afterwards, since it should start via a tow...

Picked up GhillieDhu's PZ this morning. Hazel was fine and I met their 8 year old son, Cameron. He said, very matter of fact, 'That was my daddy's car. He died in August,' and then just chatted away. It breaks your heart. Anyway, I'll start a thread on the Members' Only RX8 Discussion and post some pics. I've also got some questions that I'd appreciate all of your help with.

My car was driven up the road and back!
First time in around a year!.
Mainly due to covid, I also had power steering issues which were fixed by luke murdoch, it was a loose pin in one of the ecu plugs, i would never have found that on my own, and probably a main stream garage either.
Any way all checked over for its mot on Monday, running well and steering bang on, and no extra Christmas lights on the dash, praise the Lord!
You don't realise how much things like this stress you out until its sorted, a big weight off my shoulders.
Hopefully it passes no problem,

Possibly?
I checked everything apart from that, and changed the rack.
So might be worth checking, he was doing a live diagnostic, and it was coming on and off when he was putting pressure on the loom, so looked a little closer and found a pin had come loose, so and just pushed it back in, and hey presto

He did Chris. I mean he tried the main key and allegadly had nothing happen again.. But a wiring issue seems rather unlikely seeing as the car drove there and started first time when I started it at home.. To me it sounds suspicious.. But now he has both keys I can't even go over there and open the car to check fuses etc.

Yesterday I removed the RRP mkii coils, cleaned the leads opened up the terminals a little, cleaned the brass on the coils and the pins and sockets on the harness. Rotated the coils (leading to trailing and trailing to leading) cleaned the MAF again (allowed to soak) and the car seems to start as little quicker (it was beginning to take longer hot and cold even with new battery and starter) I'm thinking things were just a little off their best and the clean up has helped

Changed the engine oil and filter, the gearbox oil and the diff oil. (Three super fun jobs 👀)

The diff oil looked very sparkly, and the drain plug had a lot of metal flakes on it. Still, it locks up quickly and smoothly, so all seems to be working just fine!
