I maintain my position that the RX8 is one of the most reliable and punishment-friendly cars out there. Stop proving me wrong! :p
Never let me down in 13 years of ownership, I daily driver it and used it when I was a regional technician (34,000 miles in 20 months)

Went out in the rain this morning to check the battery is holding charge so connected it up and straight off the key vvvvvroooom
Pity it’s kept on the trailer as I’d have been tempted to take her for a “spin”.

Not really a good idea to run the engine without driving.

The amount of time running rich from the cold start is much longer on no load.
The condensation from starting the cold engine doesn't get purged.
The oil pressure at idle is much lower.
The stress on bearings etc is actually higher at idle because the engine isn't running smooth.

All in all, more harm than good running the engine :(

I know that feeling... Some time away from the car sometimes helps you think things through.

Got it up to temp whilst going through a moderate Rev range and waited till the condensation subsided before turning it off.
And yes what a great feeling

And when it’s worn out I’ll just put another engine in. With Wayne’s help lol

Bilstein B12 kit arrived yesterday (finally after a few weeks waiting ) - many thanks to craigy for the heads up on the model number of the kit - so that is going on the car ASAP next week, and in the meantime i've been taking apart the dash and test fitting a Sony double din radio that i picked up. Already had the metra high gloss fascia and a harness, I just need to figure out what wiring is needed to make my own "custom" harness between the mazda connector and the ISO leads from the head unit, i'll be browsing the electrical schematics for the R3 on the OC tonight! Still think i need a PAC RP4 MZ11 can bus adapter and maybe a line level converter as i'm keeping the bose amp? Still got more to figure out hah!

Hopefully going to be pulling the headliner to wire in a front and rear dashcam tomorrow - any tips on where to run the wire on the pillars? I'm hoping to get it all buried and just wire the usb power straight into the ignition power somewhere under the front dash or into a connector somewhere?

So I have discovered that my seats I fitted can recline all the way back meaning that my Rx8 is basically a camper now Image

Also on my way to work I had an issue where my power steering went and the light came on after going over a bump but it after I restarted the car the light had gone.... I’m hoping that a connector might just be loose otherwise that’s another thing to fix Image

For my rear and front dash cam cables I just slid them under the trims I think I removed the door step trim also just got a piggyback fuse and connected in the passenger footwell fuse board.

Last night really
I cleaned and checked all the AC components really to put back on,as running a car down here with no ac was a big mistake.
At a track day it was 38 degrees air temp I nearly melted in the car.

Although my car is stripped out I could not bring myself to sacrifice the air con. So I pleased I didn’t as much for its dehumidifying affect as its cooling.

Removed the rear light cluster to empty put the contents and fix the seal. When I rotated it to pour the water out it poured out of the top edge seam so no wonder it filled up when the gasket is actually sound and the gully clear. I am going to seal that top edge and leave everything else "as is" to see if the problem is returns.

Ordered a varta E23 yesterday, did a battery test today, measured voltage at rest 12.1 volts when cranking I'm sure it dropped below 10 volts (this car is driven basically every day, work is a 40 minute drive each way) so I'm glad I ordered the battery now (I know it should be the other way around, test before replacement is ordered, but had a feeling the battery was suffering a bit)
