Put the wheels and liners back on the car before I drove it anywhere as I didnt want to accumulate more mud/leaves! For some reason the DSC light is on solid and the ABS light is on. No faults via my reader... Same with the new brake switch I put in and the one I got from BigPete.. Also no brake lights. Not sure whats causing it but neither switch makes a difference.

Tis now in the shed ready for the wheels and liners to be stripped off tomorrow and then the fight against rust begins..

What primer did you use? I have to redo mine and I can't work out if I should use etch as it's metal coated or just plastic primer.

When I redid my rear Mazda badge I ended up just scuffing it with a pad and then spraying it without primer. I mean it’s not the right way to do it but the paint stuck to it okay and turned out fine for now but time will tell.

In English is reads as "Mad As.." which I can be.

Oh that's awesome. And inspiring. Does anyone here think they could make me one in silver that says 'MADDAD'?

Might was just a cut-n-shut job with a Dremal and araldite.

It would take three original badges to create a MADDAD
or the individual letters from https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIY-Chrome-3 ... 4430576931

Swapped spark plugs after a seafoam treatment the day before. Remind me not to seafoam the fuel on an Rx8 next time. Hey, at least it shoots flames.
Much better now with the new sparks though I think I should get new leads next

I tried plastic primer but it dried blotchy so removed that and used etch primer.

Whoever designed these clips can burn in hell fire! This is an aftermarket one I literally just put in last week. Same issue as the OEM ones.. But actually worse! Having to get a pick in behind to get the damned things out. Nightmare!

My own fault, I had to move it on the drive the other day and without even thinking (till it was done) I switched it off immediately. (Though I have done that before and got away with it)
Go to start it today as its been sat for a week and cranking away but no go. Need to wait till later for another car to rob some electricity off to give the de flood procedure a go.

Installed the illuminated gear knob today... It took me 2 hours to finally realise I had the wiring right and it was just my headlights were off and that's why it wasn't turning on #-o

A certain Dr. FrankenRex has a very good youtube tutorial on replacing the stock RX8 mirror with a framless one from a GT86. Gave it a crack myself and it works perfectly. Thanks Doc :thumleft:

Well this afternoon I
- Made sure the new Varta E53 was fully charged
- checked what the oil level said cold
- gave it an extra half litre as it looked pretty low
- checked the other fluids were at a reasonable level
- checked the tyres had some pressure in them
- swapped the dead battery for the new Varta (10mm spanner and a tiny bit of profanity)
- started it (maybe 0.5 seconds to catch?) for the first time in 8 months
- wondered why the engine light was on :cel:
- wondered why the accelerator pedal seemed to have pretty much no effect :-k
- read the error codes (P2109 and 4 Uxxxx Network errors)
- tried the accelerator again to minimal effect
- except now the revs are blipping from ~800 to ~2000 without me doing anything
- turned it off (the variable red line had varied all the way to the top)
- turned it back to ready and cleared the codes
- started it again
- gave a little cheer as the accelerator now caused the right kind of zoom-zoom noises =D>
- tried to reverse without budging
- tried to roll forward causing three loud bangs and hideous scraping noises
- rolled backward with scraping noises coming from most corners
- reversed slowly off the drive with scraping noises slowly improving
- stopped and put it back on the drive
- paid the road tax to take it off SORN
- reversed back off the drive and off the estate with slight scraping sounds only really from the rear NS
- (somewhere in there cleared the TCS and Steering lights :dsc: )
- got on to the national limit stretch of road and did a few reasonably hard brakings until the sounds stopped :brake:
- drove it 7 miles away for some vital grocery purchases
- rechecked the tyre pressures and topped them up to 2.2 bar :thumleft:
- drove it home again, taking every opportunity to make it go "BEEEEEEEEP!" :race:
- got home again far too soon for my liking!
- started trying to work out what essential shopping I clearly failed to buy today so I have to go and get it tomorrow :bounce:
- (checked the oil level was now at a reasonable level after properly warm and some minutes of cooling) :thumleft: :thumleft:

Now for a celebratory beer! :beers:

Heat a small blade screwdriver just enough to melt the plastic and push it into the centre. Squirt with brake cleaner to rapidly cool it then just twist and out it will come.
