Not yet. Follow the other advice first. Do you hear the fuel pump activate?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Brand new. Reading 12.3V. 650CCA(EN) etc. The CEL and battery light are meant to go off are they not for preflight checks or am I massively misremembering?
Hadyn, I think Daves assumption was that I was unable to connect to the ECU due to a PCM fuse being gone. Using my other bluetooth adapter resolved the not being able to connect issue.
The fuel pump sounds like its activating. But it sounds as if the ignition isn't firing at all.

Have you checked all the fuses yet like Dave said? Engine bay and passenger?
It's the car equivalent of 'turn it off and on again' but gotta rule it out.

I'll see if I can find my needle nose pliers somewhere... Everythings been moved out of our workshop as the asbestos roof is quite literally falling down right now... Also good thing someone had foresight to buy mixed fuses just incase...

There 'should' be a fuse puller in the engine compartment fuse box... if you're lucky and it's still there.

Checked the passanger fuses all good. Checked any relevant fuses for the engine etc.. All good. I don't know how to check if a relay is good or not.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
The Hi's (tweeters) have been getting on my nerves lately. It seems like Bose/Mazda decided to focus the hi f's across the dash. My guess is to give a wider sense of stage. But it does drive me a bit bonkers not hearing them directly.
The stock tweeters are roughly 4ohm with a 22uF cap. That gives a crossover of 1.7-1.8kHz and looking at them, they seem to cover upper mids aswell as hi's which makes sense why there's such a low xover point
Anyhoo. Ripped out the tweeters and printed some bezels for the replacement mounts. If there's not too much of a hole in the mids, I'll remove the original grills... In another decade most likely

If the battery has a little bit of nuts. Give it a good push/tow start in 2nd.Yorindesarin wrote:Tried to give it its first start in a few months. Foot to the floor turned key for a few seconds. Key off.. Key to ignition on. Nothing happens.. Oh boy.
Battery light and check engine light stay illuminated. Starter is turning but engine doesn't sound like it's going anywhere?
Oh and before you do that you might want to hand crank the pulley before hand. Something might've dried up

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Spent a long time years back looking for some tweeters on mine that covered a similar frequency range, settled on some Alpine SPS-110TW bang for buck I think it's the best audio upgrade I've ever done over the years (used to be really into car audio in the early to mid 2000's).
If you don't have a multimeter you can put 12v through it and hear if it clicks or swap it for another relay that isn't used that often.Yorindesarin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 7:18 pmChecked the passanger fuses all good. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I have a multimeter. I did look up how to use it to test relays but Ill have to look again tomorrow. And Kenni my friend suggested a tow start and that if it comes to that he will give me a hand with it which is good. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Oh bugger I did look at those too! 1k upwards. I'm wondering how much of a hole I'm going to be left with. The JBLs are 3k up but high sensitivity which is why I looked at them. I might look at some mid range drivers. And... there begins the deep the rabbit holeuntakenname wrote:Spent a long time years back looking for some tweeters on mine that covered a similar frequency range, settled on some Alpine SPS-110TW bang for buck I think it's the best audio upgrade I've ever done over the years (used to be really into car audio in the early to mid 2000's).If you don't have a multimeter you can put 12v through it and hear if it clicks or swap it for another relay that isn't used that often.Yorindesarin wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 7:18 pmChecked the passanger fuses all good. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Give it a whirl dude. Its guaranteed to start, unless you have an electrical issue bro. Push/hill roll starts were pretty common with rotaries.Yorindesarin wrote:I have a multimeter. Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I guessed it as this one, which seems to be most common interpretation.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-a ... s-fml-mean
Urban dictionary has it as 'fix my lighthouse' as the top definition, so I might have misunderstood. Don't know what Ollie means if that's it. Could be a Scottish thing?

Pretty sure FML is used frequently in Superbad, which is one of my favourite movies, so ashamed I didn't know.
As my memory deteriorates, in my old age, all i remember from that movie is Mclovin...
