Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Took the car for a set of power runs on a local rolling road dyno this morning out of shear curiosity. Car ran faultlessly with no coolant overheating or blow out oil temp up to 90 to 95 matching the engine temp but I was concerned to see the pressure drop to about 0.6bar at 1000rpm idle considering this was a RRevs Gold rebuild. 3000rpm however did produce the minimum Mazda check pressure of 3 bar
Still no sight of anything in the catch tank sight tube.

Finished off fitting my CF exhaust tips
Just cheap ones off wish, so they'll probably burn up quickly, but they were cheap to have a play with
Still got the CobraSport ones to go back on if they do

What have you done to your RX-8 today????
So the Rx8 is ready for Castle Combe on Saturday so I spent all day in the burning heat playing with my new acquisition.
Replaced the roof then
Replaced all the boot linings and carpet. Removed the loose door cards and found no speakers so Renewed the door speakers and fixed the door cards. And A thorough hoover
Really pleased so took a well deserved dip in the hot tub
Then back to the car for the evening
A good wash Clay bared and then cut it all back, another wash in the moonlight and a photo lol
Another wash and a good Wax tomorrow

The simplest answer is to refer you to this thread viewtopic.php?f=104&t=81596&hilit=rr54 and then add it was very much a financial decision.
The SC did not sell so this winter will see some work on the car and 2021 will be exciting I hope.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Need a new battery for my 8. Was gonna snag a varta blue e23 off tayna.. Until I saw the lovely postage cost to the Highlands.. 14 quid! Its more than the Vat and takes the battery from 70 quidish up to 82! Guess it'll have to wait a bit longer still.

I have the same issue with delivery to NI.
However, I was able to use the Tayna price to get a local supplier to price match.

How are you keeping, Yes
Another one.
I also have a very rusty 2.5 sport which is now being used as a donor for this Euphoric. Needs a bit of work on the front chassis legs but I’ll sort that.
Depending on finances I’m looking to go down the supercharged route.
It’s already completely poly bushed and has Tein coil overs so that’s a Saving already.

Sadly I doubt any local suppliers would have varta e23s. Or price match for that matter.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
After sitting inverted for the past month and with very frequent doses of plus gas to the rear lower arm bolts both could be easily drifted out mich to my surprise!
The passenger side front bolt came out with similar ease but the driver side nut required a jack handle on my 3/4" T bar to move it and it was tight all the way off. So tight it actually twisted the bolt!
This is now having the same treatment as the two rear bolts had in the vain hope that it will come free and I can then start to clean up the subframe and suspension arms.

That's a mess.
I shudder to think what I'm going to find when I get mine up on the lift.
The downside of being a Lightning Yellow is that it's the earliest production run.
Living within 100 yards of the sea doesn't help either

That shot also highlights how applying underseal simply traps the moisture when it ages and cracks.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
We have wooden external window sills, which is very unusual for NI; nearly all have stone/concrete
The sills on the North facing side, which takes the full force of the wind off the sea, have 3-4 layers of paint, most of which has worn away, leaving the wood bare in patches but reasonably solid.
The sills on the South facing side, which takes the sun (yes, even in NI) have 7-8 layers of paint, which has lifted and cracked, allowing the water underneath and trapping it behind, which then encouraged the wood to curl up at the edges. Most of these sills were/are so rotten that I could remove large sections with a spoon, and fill with structural foam before covering in flash band.
The one South facing sill that is particularly difficult to access and has therefore been painted less, only a couple of coats, is in the best (least worst) condition of them all.
"Preventive Maintenance" isn't always a good thing...

Seems a popular choice
