Found after a trackday there was battery fluid everywhere so swapped the battery. Other than that nothing has changed :-) maybe given it that bit extra gogo

Yeah be interesting to see! Tbf I do have a compression tester but cant be arsed to use it as Luke has the nissan one so going to keep results off that.

My youngest used to have a Mazda 2 and that was a doddle to change the oil filter on.
It was at the front of the engine and hanging down with loads of room around it so you could just reach down the front of the engine and grab hold of it to unscrew.
It was then easy to pre prime with oil as being inverted it didn’t all run out whilst trying to screw it back on like with the Rex.

renault laguna was always pretty easy. half way down on the front. the vauxhall vivaro/renault traffic isnt too bad. accessed from underneath though. haven't looked at the astra yet.
Super easy on our XF too. Just pop off the engine cover and it sits on top of the block. Lovely and easy with loads of hand room. The oil is designed to be drained out the top as well. I've never had to get under the car!
My nieces 04 Focus diesel is easy too. It's underneath right behind the bumper. So that's another car you can reach and swap it without needing to jack the car up.
Pretty sure the R3 is the hardest filter I've had to change. Getting the angle right to screw it under the car can be fiddly while the fresh oil you've filled it with runs down your arm. There is plenty of space for your hand. I hear that's a common complaint when changing the S1 filter.
Decided to spruce up my wing mirrors as the clear coat was peeling away, couldn’t be bothered to remove then so just masked up around them, used cling film and a bit of tape. Pretty pleased with the result, although I will have to remove the residue from the tape on the plastic bit later. Must be because of the warm weather, made it a bit gooey? Obviously did other side as well

The worst car I have ever owned in terms of doing work on the engine has to be the Berlinetta Boxer which was such a tight fit in the engine compartment that any time any work had to be done on the engine (including oil and filter change) the mechanics insisted on taking the engine out of the car which if I remember was an eight hour job! So, had to add the cost of that to any work done. Did not help I had a flat bottom fabricated.

As I discovered the bearings of the supercharger are "whirring" when spun by hand I have decided to have it overhauled.
Boy am I glad I did because...well I will let the pictures tell the story and let you imagine the scenario if I had sold to the guy in Australia and he had found what I just found! On a good note the rotor lobes look pristine.
Curiously there is no silicone visible in the intercooler matrix so where it went beats me.

Had a fun day out in the shed, not quite upto project binky standards.
I probably didn't need quite so meny teeth, but as I only had some alu plate kicking about I went a bit overkill.
I really did think I was going to snap the breaker bar trying to undo the pully bolt with me hanging off a 2m scaffolding pole. or me face planting the dirt.

You could have entered that into their bracket competition! Good work.

Huge issue for me on my S1. Just no way to get my (big) hands properly around the thing although have done it before and had no issue as I never over tighten!

That is a very smart bracket.
