Yeah I know it'll never match. But as I can't afford a full respray to the colour I want right now. (can get it done with free labour but the time it'd take would be down to me doing prep and then the guy actually spraying) so it's just going to have to be as good of a match as possible. I'm sure that panels been redone before anyway as it's light a few clear coats.

The 8 was treated to a new shift boot yesterday courtesy of bigpete, and a new leather gaiter as the old one was shot to bits. Also managed to sort an annoying squeek coming from the airbag, so a successful day! Some piccys below....

Had similar issues with my gaiters, both rubber and leather, noticed a decrease in the normal sounds coming from the transmission(that are normally misdiagnosed as clutch release bearing)

No expert, but you could try a spray out on several different backgrounds, white primer, grey primer and black primer, for instance, to see which gives you the closest match, as I know that the background does affect the outcome

That might get a closer colour match, but be aware that VR can be a couple of shades different from one end (or one side) of the same car to the other #-o

Let's face it if it's not an R3 in VR then the value of the vehicle is pretty low in the first place! As long as it looks reasonably similar who cares!

Exactly Tom! Plus it'll only be VR until I can manage to get it resprayed to Midnight Purple anyway. Ahahah.

Might as well use pink nail varnish then, should blend OK

It's definitely quieter in the cabin now. Much less transmission noise!

Fortunately they are quite slow in processing orders and my plate order is only just being processed today.
Just as well because I have just discovered that the 16 seals I picked up back in September are all fluid seals, no dust seals hence I had to call their sales office to sort out the supply of the correct seals.
No idea of the cost yet.
Thanks Chris

Just called RB again as they sent an email with a link to order your retainers by put I couldn’t get past the first page to order them! There will be some freight to pay too but don’t know that yet!

That's a slightly radical way to ensure that the black one drains the rinse water away

Helps the water flow back down the hill, so works really well. May have also taken the opportunity to fit Meister R coilovers and a Cusco antiroll bar....

Here is a classic example, same primer, same can. Only difference is that I damaged the paint on one after clear coating it so applied another colour coat and clear coated again. Result is darker! Not an issue as they go on opposite sides but would be on panels!

If your wondering about the silver, that’s what happens when you pick up an identical can and don’t check the label!

Now a distant memory unfortunately.

I polished up my headlights yesterday as they were getting very hazy.
I used the ATG kit bought of Amazon as it seemed to have all the stuff you need inc polishing sponge with drill adaptor and Velcro sanding pads 800,1200 and 2000. There is also polishing paste and uv protect to finish with.
The results were good but I did use some autoglym paint restorer to finish the polishing as the supplied paste didn’t seem to get the lenses as clear as I wanted.
Final results look good although I did notice that the drivers side lens has some hazing that looks like it has had some contamination at some point.

Yep, much better than my current ones... I'd be surprised if there's any out there that are actually in good nick after 14 years, but I'm sure someone on here has got some mint! There's a thread somewhere on here about refurbing them with some varnish so I'm going to give that a go.

The odd one out is original, the same as the other two, but it's lost the transfer from the front , you can just about see it ghosting in the plastic if you get the light angle right.

If only we had a Trader that could produce a cut vinyl replacement sticker for the lettering. .. ;)

Might have to send him the best as a sample to match, or a full-size scan.
