Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Curious, that's a totally different design to my set of Racing Brake BBK Calipers
Mine have two slide pins and a very simple spring design.
This shows the pins, but I can't find a pic of the spring. I've not seen your RB BBK single pin design on an RX-8 before, and I've seen 4-5 sets at least

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Could they have changed the design because the springs kept breaking?
More likely they changed the source for the product.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
It’s a currently supplied product but not specified by them for the RX8. It is the only set of that design that Clive has supplied.
I confirmed£ this when I was at Racing Brake in LA collecting the Spring and seals.
If they cannot ship one economically then I will ask Dean Eggink to drop by and pick two up to post to me.

^^ That caliper is the same as my RB one, and like the other 4-5 sets I've seen on other cars.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
OK for Wayne and Chris,
The calipers you both have are the first generation of the Racing Beat 4-pots (Malcolm seems to have the 2nd Generation). The reason the design was changed was because those tabs kept breaking, not very often but they changed the design anyway. I was told not to worry just keep an eye out and keep some spares; it did not effect performance while broken.
Hope Clive will back me up on this as I got all this from Racing Beat in the USA.
Ranjan.

You're going to have clean the rest of the engine bay now to match the bar bling.

. Yes.... Maybe I could put some stripes on... That makes stuff go faster doesn't it? . The rest of the bay definitely needs a clean!

Best get a big splitter on the front or the car will tip up with that wing and diffuser! Looks brilliant by the way.

I just received a reply from Racing Brake in LA and they can supply the pad retainers for $18 a piece. Think I might order two given my past experience and Ranjans comment regarding this being a known issue in the past.Ranjan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:27 pmOK for Wayne and Chris, mrspiller wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 9:27 pmLooks like the ones i bought from RanjanChrisHolmes wrote: Nope, it’s a large one piece item and it just cannot come out as it is, hence my theory it fatigues and breaks under the central retaining pin.
