Chris and I have been chatting via PM and have a test plan to see if the problem is repeatable.
In the meantime he's also in contact with RR to arrange a post-mortem.

Idle until up to temp and take for a steady drive to get oil up to temp and everything warm. Stop for 10 minutes to allow heat soak and then go for a some spirited driving with as much full throttle acceleration and beeping as possible.Vj4sothername wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 7:20 pmOhh what's the test? The result was that nothing out of the ordinary happened other than the engine temp does seem to be running in the 90s rather than the 80s.
I have spoken to Ranjan and he is very glad to have got rid of the car.
Decision time now regarding what to do as either one of the car cars needs to go and the odds are stacked for swapping the brakes and suspension from T200 CAD onto the car, plus the odd other bit and then selling T200 with the SC fitted as Its not worth the hassle to convert back to NA and sell the car and SC separately.

With two very different cars now on my drive a choice needed to be made and it boiled down to simple economics.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
What finally put me off the s/c route was learning just how much it meant limiting the revs... which is the opposite of my rotary life goals.
I hope you can get the best potential/parts out of both cars Chris to have one vehicle that is special, thrilling and reliable.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
this is my point. id quite like to turbo or sc mine, (mostly because it wouldn't affect the class i race in) but id have to find (read invent) a setup that can keep adding boost to 9k... adding power low down might make it a better road car. but mine aint no road car.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I know that it’s a waaayy bigger undertaking than forced induction on an 8 but what’s the Rev limit usually on 3/4 rotor set ups?
Kuro 174/500.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
You can use up to 9000rpm with a supercharger but it’s not necessary as the additional torque lower down the Rev range provides greater drivability. My rev limit is set at 8500rpm but I tend to change at 8000rpm but if I miss that it’s an ignition limiter which is softer and safer than a fuel cut limiter.qwakers wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 9:23 pmthis is my point. id quite like to turbo or sc mine, (mostly because it wouldn't affect the class i race in) but id have to find (read invent) a setup that can keep adding boost to 9k... adding power low down might make it a better road car. but mine aint no road car.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Well today the 8 decided to spring a sizeable oil leak. Luckily I'm off work, so got it up to have a look underneath. As suspected, one of the oil cooler lines has corroded, so time to get some shiny new ones. Emailed RRP, so hopefully will hear back soon as the car is now out of action. Managed to snap three 10mm bolts getting the undertray pieces off too which was annoying (looks like it's never been off!)

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Made progress actually fixing something today! Managed to get the drivers heated seat working, and cleaned the leather while it was out of the car. Picture of the culprit below.
Also calculated my MPG on the last tank of fuel.. 17 MPG. Need to get those coils, leads and plugs ordered pronto, as it hasn't been driven that hard...

Completely agree. I was dreading having to troubleshoot for hours trying to find a fault, so I was relieved when I saw the broken wire!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Visited Thames Valley MOTs and got the car through for another year. Dave did point out that my aftermarket brake hoses were rubbing against the base of my TEIN coilovers when the steering was on full lock. The joys of buying a highly modified car. HEL hoses now ordered to avoid a future bout of catastrophic brake failure

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Nice! Look the same as when I got mine done on the 335 from Lepsons. Dark anthracite they called it, probably going to get the RX8 done in the same. Don’t like flat black or gloss black wheels that much. Much prefer the dark metallic look.
Kuro 174/500.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Pulled the rear caliper off to sort out the sticky b'stard, and I've been a stupid twit and sheared two of my rear caliper bolts taking it off. Can anyone find a set of compatible ones on Amazon that are primeable so I can get the car sorted for Monday? See next post for pics.
