Further donkey-work today, including hauling concrete planter pots, during which I discovered something I never knew before. if your heating is set to go all to the feet and you turn the temperature down below 17.5 degrees it diverts some of the ventilation to the face level vents. Clever, huh?

Changed the pollen filter in a pub car park while on a work call.

Gotta fit work in where you can. I fitted the ram scoop in the spring during a long feedback session with a script editor. Most of my colleagues have heard the impact wrench go off at some point during a call.

I removed a set of pollen filters whilst travelling down the M5 in the rain last Thursday night. Don't panic I was a passenger at the time!

This is another reason why there's no excuse for (most) dealers to tick the box in the service schedule checklist, and charge for the cabin filter elements on the bill, but not to actually change the filters.

I've lost track of the number of instances where this has obviously been the case. [-X

Chris I would have been more impressed if you had removed the intake-air filter whilst on the move!

Ooh, le mans start, the filter has to be in before you cross the line.

Person driving has to manage going fast enough to be quick, with slow enough so passenger can actually fit the filter.

I did that with Jackie Stewart at a launch event at Brands Hatch in '86.

Jackie set the boggy time and I came 3rd, behind two professional stunt drivers. I was well chuffed and got personal congratulations from Jackie.

Failed the MOT yesterday - binding front brake. I suspect that's punishment for leaving it alone for 3 months! Refitted it today but the pins were fine and to be fair the piston is the far more likely culprit given the look of it. It's still binding though not as bad as before. Think I'll just replace the calliper as don't have the time to rebuild. Well, don't have the time to clear the workbench and rebuild is probably more accurate.

I finally got round to working in the rear Calipers which got slightly hot at Croft.
Daylight beat me so no photos but the burned paint was coming off nicely with a wire brush leaving a shiny silver metal finish.
Also removed the last coil over ready for cleaning and setting up. When the repaired one comes back from TEIN on Monday I can start to get the suspension set up.

Rear brakes overheating could be a fault with the caliper or it could be the DSC was having to activate that brake to bring the car back in line after too much use of power...

Just saying...

I would like to think it was the latter, especially as both Calipers are in good order, albeit not cosmetically!

Just picked up my 8s battery after my mechanic charged it and checked its health for me. Charged to 12V.. Is holding charge but it seems the cells are not the best so it'll probably discharge pretty quickly again! New battery when it goes back on the road. Was the last ignition piece I needed to change.. But if the cells have been this way since I got the car it would explain my turn over time especially with RRP coils installed and an uprated motor.

I noticed a significant improvement in start up times after cleaning my eccentric shaft sensor, there were no faults shown, no misfires, just a dirty sensor that I cleaned whilst fitting oil cooler lines. Just a thought.

I'll give that a look too when I go to put the car back on the road. It'll probably be a while down the line sadly... But I'm happy to wait until I can get it done.

Put the battery back in the car but left it disconnected for now until I get a trickle charger. Also noticed that condensation was building up on my sunroof... Don't think its been there for too long but I wiped it off. And picked up both of my PINGI bags seeing as the one in the cabin was pink dot.
