Went out to check the size and thickness of the lip over the instruments, before ordering one of these:-

Is spinning alot faster than the last test is wierd
Did you have a plug removed on the rotor not being tested?
This gives much higher rpm and makes it easier for starter and battery

Had a nice envelope turn up today with my shiny new locking wheel nut key!

Managed to strip and rebuild the drivers side front calliper and now the brakes are working great again!

Might be a good idea to do the passenger side as a bit of preventative medicine but going to enjoy driving the car for a while :thumright:

I drove to Birmingham and back yesterday to have my R3 wheels refurbed same day and have new tyres fitted.

Was a long day but I fitted them to the RX8 today and am very happy. Have written a longer post on it on my Renault Zoe 'Other Car' thread: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=78890&p=1235273#p1235273

They look really nice.
Is that the original R3 colour match?
The ones on our R3 have been done black at some time which I quite like but was thinking of going back to original colour at some point.

Thanks that's kind of you. No it's not a colour match. Mazda never released the paint code and I must have gone through a dozen different touch up paints over the years trying to match it perfectly without success.

The shop I used in Brum does powder coating and so we just held the shabby wheel next to a few of their samples and picked one by eye that we thought was closest. It's a bit lighter than the centre caps now I've put them back in, but is only obvious when properly looking at them. I think the powder colour code was ST42, but I'll be happy to double check the receipt if you ever get yours redone.

Im worried when I get my wheels refurbed about getting the centre caps to match... Since my caps are currently toast anyway new ones will be required... Reckon they would hit the caps with the correct colour too? Hm.

With some of the original caps you can get the logo off and paint the cap then just refit the logo with superglue.

Thought that may be a possibility. My caps are really not suitable for repurposing though. Would definitely need new ones! That'll be sometime over winters worry though since Im hoping for a refurb before the car next goes on the road.

In case some folks don't know, McGard [who make Mazda's locking nuts] have a great site, easy to use, quick delivery, and were good value when I used them.

Put the under tray trim back on, removed the coolant sensor lead, played with forscan and cleared the error code for the rear of sensor. I cannot wait for the gasket to arrive so I can fix the exhaust leak.

Maybe next weekend of beeps without the work!!

Looked at it thinking I’ll get to work on it next, as I pop down my sons to fit new lights to his living room and bedroom. Then sorted out his A/C as it wasn’t getting cold. Image

If you ever want to get the caps painted up to match exactly, you can pop the Mazda logo off of them with the little chrome clips on the back. They may snap, but you can glue the badge back on afterward. That way you can paint the centre without painting the Mazda logo.

EDIT: this only applies to the R3 wheels. I believe the S1 wheels are moulded.

The firm that powder coated my Anniversaries in rota bronze were good enough to paint my centre caps for me too. Schweet.

Oh awesome. The only set I'd every worked on had what looked like moulded ones that I daren't try to remove, whereas the R3 centres have little tabs on the back to un-clip them
