Attempted to fit the new wheel liner after it got ripped.......took off the remaining of the old wheel liner and discovered the new one doesn't fit ( It did say on the ebay listing it was for an R3)

Search begins for another liner.
Have you tried your local dealer? I got a new rear liner from mine in 2017 for £30. So might be worth asking them.

Had Luke Murdoch over to me today to replace clutch and fit white line front drop links. Luke did a great job without any fuss, even though it was like a monsoon this morning. We moved everything to my sister in laws drive as she has a covered car port.
If you need anything doing to your Rx8 that you are not comfortable doing yourself, I can highly recommend Luke.
Will definitely use him again in the future :thumright:

Pictures show how bad the old clutch was, right down to the rivets, and was so heavy on the clutch pedal. I nearly put my foot through the floor when trying out the new one
It’s now silky smooth and a lot less effort required for the pedal :thumright:

Picked my car up from my mechanic with the new clutch... Clutch point is so low... I've stalled more than I did when I was learning to drive from how absolutely abismal my old clutch was... Sheesh... The total bill has hurt my bank account to say the least. :(

Thanks to everyone that helped source a flywheel. And to Scott and Carl at RRP. Once I get use to this clutch Ill be happily braping along again!

I'll be collecting mine soon from the local garage who've been replacing oil cooler pipes, and the original, rusty sump pan.
Previously, I'd been checking on potential got-chas, and found this thread, which includes a diagram showing the bolt torque as 18.6 - 25.5 Nm:
https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/v ... p#p1205684
But if you go to our very own online manual for the same topic, you see a different diagram, with a different outline to the sump pan, and the following diagram:
alternative oil pan install details 2.png
As you can see, here the torque is stated to be 8.8 - 11.8 Nm
Am I being stupid, and missing something?
If not, my best guess is one is for the S1, and one for the R3, but then which is which?

That picture isn't an RX8 sump. Don't use 25Nm because you will definitely strip out the threads in the aluminium plates, and deform the sump. The correct torque is the one you found in the correct workshop manual.

Right. Thanks.
I've got my fingers crossed the garage looked up their own data then! (And ignored the print out that I thought I was being helpful by providing... ☹️)

Apparently they applied 'common sense' and since they're pretty experienced that probably means they only used moderate force.

Gave it a good drive to and from work after not having driven it for the 3ish weeks. Need to get my RRP coils and Magnecor leads in but the weathers pretty P*** poor right now. Won't be long before its ready to hibernate for winter I think.

Back end tidy up complete.

Dyed the bumpers last month, JDM plate and Grams plate holder installed. Much better :thumleft:
Old plate had to be massive to cover the square hole you get in a JDM bumper #-o

Changed the boot lock so I can actually use it and moved all the engine parts into said boot for storage. Ordered oil and filters from Opies, elbow joins from Pete. Now just waiting for the call to pick up the new engine.....

*Update on the 'crazy ex tinder date car keying - Police are absolutely useless! 5 weeks on they finally collected the CCTV footage but apparently the file format isn't compatible with the police computer so may 'take a while' to access it (god help us all).
I called the officer 16 times, and messaged 8 times since then and not heard anything back, currently on hold to 101 for 2hours 18 minutes and counting..... TOP TIP Don't be a victim of crime in South Yorkshire

MLM bumper dye, took plenty of coats as my bumpers were a weird blue grey. We'll see how it lasts.
eBay £12.
Use the cloth to apply, the foam applicator makes it go bubbly.

...was only thinking the other day that's it's the most beautiful 'thing' I've ever owned. :inlove:

Been wanting a Jag XKR for years, but I just couldn't part with the 8 and no room (or budget, or spousal approval [-X ) for both, so I'll just have to save money and keep the 8. Yes, SAVE money by keeping an RX8

...parents were over yesterday and said 'it must have cost you a fortune over the years'....well no, not really, zero depreciation in 5 years and managed to fund most of the mods by way of selling parts/the donor car.

Biggest cost of a different/new car is the depreciation, so yeah, I'm only getting 22mpg, but I only do 5-6000miles a year so no biggy. Sure I could get a new super efficient car that gets 50-70mpg, but it'll lose thousands a year in depreciation so really no point......and a Jag would only do 20mpg too so no change on that either.....but 500bhp would clearly be nice 8)
