You're right to be concerned about the leverage on the hinges with the current aftermarket strut kits.

If only there was someone within the RX-8 community with access to the fabrication facilities to produce the brackets for the strut ends and loom relocation to replicate the OEM kit ;)

I'm sure this would be a very popular group buy.

PS. OEM instructions are Here under "Bonnet Dampers"

Also.. out of pure curiosity... whose arm would we require to twist to fab such brackets? :-k

Couldn't do anything with my RX8 today because the repairer still has it and are being suspiciously slow. My 4 year old misses it and named it 'Blackbot' the day it left.

Tried out the Renault Zoe in the RX8's space in the garage. Thought I may as well keep it inside. But it felt weird so that soul-less white blob is back out on the drive while the garage sits empty.
DSC_2241.JPG

Then I wrote the RX8 a poem in it's absence:

They took you from me
The other they won't give you back
Light turns to dark and my heart goes black
Not having my favourite car
FILLS THE VOID WITH HATE HATE HATE

It's a work in progress

Gave it a good clean and used this meguiars ceramic wax stuff.

After all that I then put the cover on it to keep the bird sh*t off it whilst it's stood. ImageImage

Fitted Racing beat air box (purchased from Bunch1980) to compliment my previously fitted Revi scoop, so now have the full RB set up. Now I don’t know if it’s the old placebo effect but it seems to sound better, idle smoother and run better. Trickiest bit was getting one of the existing mash screens out the original box to reuse.

Hit a dead badger that was left in the middle of the road as I came round a corner.. There is now a lovely exhaust not attached sound or a crack possibly.. Why did this have to happen. #-o

What car cover is that? Mine looks very similar but doesn’t quite fit properly. (Cheap one from Amazon for that exact reason).

Hi mate, it's one I brought donkies years ago from Aldi of all places, I forgot I had it until I was doing the usual bloke look in the garage trying to find something and it jumped out at me.

It's a medium and as you say is just slightly too small to tuck under the front and back bumpers as the RX8 is sooo long! It fits 98% and the large would probably be way too big. I may pull it right forward and shut the boot on the back to keep it from flying off. It does have a strap underneath with a clip which is handy.

I know there is the argument that it will cause scratching etc however I have given it a good clean and wax and it can't be worse than all the bird sh*t and dust off the building site along with all the local cats walking over it with sandy paws.

Yeah I think I have a medium and if I hook it under the front bumper, it doesn’t quite fit under the exhausts. The one I have ties up on each wheel, which is handy when it’s a bit windy and has a cotton underside. If I remember correctly it was only £30ish.
