Ah the yellow pages, from the forgotten era of yesteryear ;) I'm glad they're still going. I helped them move from paper to digital databases.

Had a real, paper BT Phone Book posted through my letterbox by the postie this week. Had no idea they were still mailing out free loo paper.

Spent today refitting the VFAD duct complete with a 150cfm fan to direct ambient are onto the air filter when the car is stationary. Also sealed along the top of the radiator with foam to reduce the hot air going into the top of the engine bay.
Wired in a switch so the fan can be switched off once the car is moving and back on if in slow moving traffic or stationary or hopefully on a dyno on Thursday!
For a while now I have been looking at the charge cooler and thinking "cold into top and hot out of the bottom" which is how it was piped seems wrong as the coolant will go into the top and out of the bottom at the same rate so the cooler may never fill up. So after studying the Pettit manual my suspicions were confirmed the correct way is "out of the top (rear) and into the bottom (front)
Re routed the piping using what I have lying around so its not the neatest and prettiest but functional will do for now to keep me going.
Now all that is between me and Blyton Park is the small matter of getting the engine mapped!

Always worth checking the brake pads before a track day! The water thin ones are from the passenger side and look to have been seriously hot, that calliper is also discoloured. The piston had no corrosion I could see and was initially stiff but then wound smoothly and easily back.
Front pads have plenty of life left in them.

Did a few bits before Blyton tomorrow. Fitted new Mintex 1144 pads and bed them in, fit new caliper pins all round, washed the old brake dust off the track wheels before fitting them, and washed and polished the car (only the 2nd time I'd washed it this year!).

Then finished building my wheel shelving in the shed so I can now store the other set of wheels in there, rather than lifting wheels up a ladder to put in the garage attic every time I swap them over.

I removed the original rear bumper on mine today (which had a nasty dent in it when I bought it last year) and replaced with one which is much better nick. Had to swap the exhaust shrouds from the old bumper to the new one as they had been shaved back to accommodate the toyo catback. All the black parts got a respray with Simonz bumper paint. Took ages to remove all of those pesky black plastic rivets. I need to get back inside the boot as I’ve a couple of 10mm nuts left over - ☹️

Had a great day at Blyton with Frank's charity track day. Thanks New Duke for your company it was a fun day! Couldn't match your speed on the straight or ordering ability but the little S1 didn't disappoint out there.

Covered about 150 miles out on track without any problems just need to get some decent semi slick/track tyres

Attached are some moody HDR+ pics from the day. ImageImage

If the plate was on the top grill as original fitted then it does not block any air as that is a “false” grill.
People do move them to the side and somewhere on here is a thread with various options. Have a look on the DIY section for info.

Thanks Shroom for finding and welcoming me over to join you. Really glad we met. I managed to get 80 miles on track out of a full tank in the afternoon before fuel starvation ended it a few mins before the chequered flag. That was a really good day!

Until a van drove into the back of me on the A14 on the way home. Thankfully my insurer has said they'll cover repairs and haven't written it off. But it's a hassle I didn't need that ended the day on a low note.

Really enjoyed the day until that tho :thumright:
