Post by New Duke »

I cleaned the rust off my alignment bolts today following the advice from PeteH (thanks Pete!) before it gets aligned by Fergus as recommended by Chris Holmes (thanks Chris!), because it needs doing since bigpete (thanks Pete!) fitted the new PZ suspension that I got from the group buy organised by Conan (thanks Pete!).

Then I serviced my brake calipers supplied last year by SeriousSam (thanks Sam!) and fitted by 13Black (thanks Nick!); the same kind guy who lay on his back under my car on a wet pit garage floor last winter changing my engine mounts with the help of Ainmhidh (thanks Alan!).

For the work on the car today I used for the first time some axel stand pads I got thanks to the group buy organised by Warpc0il (thanks Dave!).

Then I had a (single) fruit beer and got all misty eyed thinking about how many club members had a hand in just the bits I did today. The circle spreads even wider over a week or a month.

This club is awesome.

Barely a finger (well a socket extension if I remember correctly?) of assistance from me, but all-a' youse-guys are a great community to know!

And thanks for the passenger rides at Bedford (thanks Haydn!)

Taken it for a little drive over to Fishguard. The vibration is definitely road surface dependent so it’s just a quirk of the cars setup. Unless something falls off of course!

Had the new falken k510s fitted and balanced. The before with rainsport 3s.
IMG_20190621_144153.jpg
And after with the k510s. Looks better in my opinion and the added height profile difference gives me just that bit more clearance on low objects to say the least!

Now I need to get a 4 wheel alignment sorted out soon since the tyres that came off the rear weren't at all wearing evenly. To keep the camber it has or not though hm.

She calls the shots
Apparently she finds it hard to park and the house looks like an NCP Carpark.
I told her I’d stop charging her

Pft. If she finds it hard to park she shouldn't be driving in the first place! :p Unfortunate I guess!

The trouble is the cars worth more in parts. trying to sell them on for pennies is pointless.

It is a shame butI did put it out there before I started to strip.
No good to anyone now as I’ve cut out the fuse box and other bits of loom.

Pay him the money for scrap and fuel and I’m sure he would drop it to you ( or a couple quid for bumper and bootlid ) , it’s a real straight reasonable shell . And a shame as it’s a very photogenic car . As a group that we do track days together I’ll miss “ bully “

Not exactly just today.

Since I had my semi slicks on the car I took the oppertunity to give my 40th wheels a good clean. Find that I could no longer put up with the corrosion on them, not just the in side by the outside as well.

However not ready to fork out for a professional refurbishment, £400-£500.

So I have had a go at doing them myself all in £70, plus a few days of my time.
IMAG0309.jpg
Colour match not bad either.
IMAG0306.jpg
Hopefully will stop the deterioration a little, until I get around to a full refurbishment.

Gave it a good old over due wash. The paint was looking super dull before hand. Damn rain for 3ish weeks!

Went for a rinse, snowfoam, rine snowfoam off, resnowfoam, wash mitt off the snowfoam and then finally another rinse to finish.

Also my passenger side headlight is definitely a bit waterlogged.. Think itll need seeing to soon. Im hoping to get all the chrome in the headlights blacked out and bixenons as well as polishing up the exterior at some point anyway. If anyone possibly knows someone that does such a thing please let me know!

Ordered same for the 5008 which looks a damn site harder to do judging by the only RHD video I managed to find.
Hey M8, I just received my filter but it seems to have 2 in the box is that normal? They both look exactly the same.

Yes, the two sit side-by-side within the housing as a single unit would be too wide to fit through the slot.
