Obviously that means his tested engines get MORE. What, I don't know, but if ones above sea level have worse, then surely the closer you get to the earth's core, you therefore get MORE .

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
END OF AN ERA
With a heavy heart and uncontrollable sorrow from myself and my compadre mrspiller I have decided to break “BULLY”.
There is actually nothing wrong with her apart from the engine not being fast enough, the shell is in really good shape with no rot and it’s in the rare Strato Blue.
So I’m concentrating my efforts into my VR 8 by stripping out all the good bits off Bully and fitting them to VR, and holding onto the rest for spares and may sell off some bits and bobs.
Work commences first thing in the morning, stripping out the engine bay
Then lifting it up on axle stands, drop front subframe engine gearbox then the rear end complete.
IF THERE IS ANYONE WANTING A GOOD ROLLING SHELL THEN SHOUT OUT NOW.

Last night while the weather was nice (Raining today) I changed the pollen filters - only been in a year but for the cost and the sake of my hay-fever I like to change annually.
Ordered same for the 5008 which looks a damn site harder to do judging by the only RHD video I managed to find.

Where do you get the filters from? This might be a good shout for me to do as I am sure it has never been done and I am struggling with hay fever. Also is it pretty easy to do on the rx8?bigpete8 wrote:Last night while the weather was nice (Raining today) I changed the pollen filters - only been in a year but for the cost and the sake of my hay-fever I like to change annually.

Ordered of ebay,(173621098307) this time was blueprint - just make sure you get charcoal ones. (£10 to £12 iirc)
SImple enough:
Open glovebox, push in sides to drop down further - release strut at left hand side (someone had previously broken mine)
look for white rectangular box - push sides to release cover (LHS is a bit fiddly as tucked away)
can see filters just note their fitment so you replace the same way
and reverse to refit.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Changed the oil last night, apparently it was done before I got the car about 2500 miles ago. Is this a normal colour for that many miles? I guess only half of it is changed at a time, but it looks kind of dark...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Colour isn't a definitive indication of the state of the oil but ideally it shouldn't be that dark, as there isn't the same route for combustion contamination as a piston engine.
However, as you say, only about 60% gets replace with each changed so the previous change may have been well overdue.
Personally, I'd give it a 50-100 miles and then change again. Mineral-based 10W40 oil is cheap enough and you wouldn't need to replace the filter, assuming you did this time.

I've changed the oil after a week and it's come out dark.

Crunched my driver's side front alloy on a high kerb and flaked off a load of the light grey covering. Muppet.

Scott Ryan, From Ryan Rotary made a house call to me today to fit his old RRP long tube header to my car as well as an RRP adaptor pipe with fia 100 cell cat in it as well as a few other bits, the car sounds mental and has had a definite increase in performance, now to get some mazdaedit logs and send them to Carl to tweak the map

That looks a wicked bit of kit.
Be interesting to see how it affects the power delivery as aren’t long headers supposed to give more at the top end?

Replaced front bumper, right fender and right repeat indicator due to a car reversing into me, polished headlights and put on a small stick on number plate. Hopefully later today I will get the engine compression tested with 55k miles on the clock.

Echo shrooms comment, those lights look almost brand new! Did you just polish them or did you do the whole sandpaper/re-UV treat routine? Mine are a state and I'm considering what to do/use with them.

Ordered 4x 225/45/18s Falken Azensis K510s to replace the 225/40/R18 Rainsport 3s currently on the car. 100 quid a corner not too bad! Next is a 4 wheel alignment because my current setup is definitely not wearing evenly.
Hoping the 45s dont rub anywhere until I get this stupid camber sorted out and my suspension raised up a bit!
